Practice makes perfect

Navarātri celebrates the Divine Mother, the harmonizing force of all creation. Sanātana Dharma is the eternal principle within every heartbeat and entity, not a dogma. True politics, or Rājanīti, is ethical governance bestowed by the ṛṣis upon the capable. Perfection in any field, from art to spirituality, requires sustained sādhanā—disciplined practice fueled by deep devotion and concentration. This process purifies the individual, just as fire and hammer purify gold. When one serves with a selfless heart, success follows as a divine blessing.

"The Vedas do not speak about any personal God or personal thing, but the entire universe."

"Tons of theories are nothing compared to a grain of practice. Practice makes perfect."

Blessed ones, all dear ones, spiritual seekers here and in other places. Blessings of the Śrī Ālag Purījī Siddhapīṭha Paramparā, Gurudev’s blessings. Welcome, all of you. We had no webcast last week, but today we are here. It is one of the most beautiful and divine days of the Cosmic Mother, Navarātri. Millions and millions of people are celebrating, worshipping, and praying for the mercy and divine blessing of the Divine Mother. In Sanātana Dharma, both are balanced. Without the Divine Mother, there is no birth. And without the Holy Father, there is no birth. But that Divine Mother is different from what we think. She is the balancing, protecting, and harmonizing force of the entire universe, all the sun systems, all the stars, all the planets, and so on. You know, in the world there is one day called Mother’s Day. This is very good. This also came from Navarātri, but just one day for Mother’s Day—they are very clever. They keep it on a Sunday so they do not need to have any more holiday, and then say, "Congratulations, mother, for Mother’s Day." But India, Sanātana Dharma, Hindu Dharma, is a colorful, beautiful decoration of happiness, joy, worshipping, enjoying, and eating. Every mother is a divine mother, and if we all respect every mother, that is the real worship of the Divine Mother Navarātri. So I pray to that Divine Mother to bless all of us. And when the Divine Mother appears, then no doubt, God Himself comes. In a few days, it will be the day of the incarnation of Bhagavān Śrī Rāma, and you know all about Bhagavān Śrī Rāma. Some days ago, there was also the holy, beautiful story, painful story, joyful story, and the victory of the truth, the victory of righteousness. Similarly, nearly every day there is a worshipping. Mera jīvan terī pūjā—my life is a worship for Thee, O my Lord. With this, if we harmonize and understand the entire earth, the whole world, each and every entity, then there is no more problem in this world; there is brotherhood. I will tell you more later. We have a surprise among us today. There is an artist, and an artist needs sādhanā. Without sādhanā, without practice, it is not so easy. You can also make something like that, but not like the artist. It requires long practice. So you have to wait to see that artist, who can make many different kinds of sounds through his mouth. That is it. Yes, before that, you know, in India some positive things are happening. Again, the hope, the light of spirituality is coming. And so, many Indians try very hard to bring such a guide. You can say politics. Politics is not a bad thing. Politics is the creation of the ṛṣis. That is called Rājanīti. Rāja means the king, and nīti means ethics. So the ṛṣis brought these rules and principles of ethics and gave them to some person who was capable, understanding, and had both kinds of qualities. Like all gods in Indian histories: in one hand is a blessing or something good, and in the other hand is a weapon. Either this or that. So this weapon is for destroying the negative āsurī śakti and for blessing and protecting all the pure souls. In this way, there is sādhanā and every day some kind of celebration. If not, then at least the celebration of a birthday, yes? Happy birthday. And if not this, then it is a wedding day. And some are happy to celebrate the divorce day, ṭalāq. There is a way of sūkṣmaprāṇa, khuśī jāī. So humans create the saṃskāras, and through the saṃskāras, saṃskṛti bantī hai—some kind of principle is formed. And through that, we create the culture. So the ṛṣis gave to some person who had a heart for all equally. The ṛṣis gave the title of king. Why? Because the king is given by the ṛṣis. And then they gave this license of nīti, and this nīti has become rājanīti. So it is coming from the ṛṣis. Politics is coming from them. But nowadays politicians have lost the original, and they are doing what they like, which is different. You know that yoga is the eternal science. This is from the first time when God, or Swayambhu Bhagavān Śiva, appears; he manifests himself in meditation mudrā. So meditation comes from that time. After that, he taught some kind of the knowledge of yoga in different ways to the ṛṣis, and from ages and ages it is coming. The truth remains forever. Sanātana will remain forever. Each and every seed which preserves its origin, the tree, the sprouting, becoming a small plant into a big tree, and blossoms and fruits—that is called Sanātana. Sanātana religion is not a dogma, and that is the Vedas. The Vedas are not a dogma, and the Vedas do not speak about any personal God or personal thing, but the entire universe. Your heartbeat is Sanātana Dharma. Tell your heart, "Do not beat anymore. I do not like Sanātana Dharma." Tell your heart to stop. Oh, my God, your life is finished. Eyesight, looking, hearing, all liver, kidneys, heart, blood circulation, glands, hormones—this, this all is it. Is that the dharma, Sanātana Dharma, that God has put? This principle in the creation may be the trees, the mountains, the ocean, lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, etc. Jalchar, thalchar, nabchar: the life in the water, on the earth, and in the space. A human or any creature is the light of God. It does not matter which religion you believe; that Sanātana is in you. Therefore, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "I am in each and every entity. These all are my self, my relatives." That is the truth. And so, Rājanīti. From time to time comes good, or sometimes something different. There were good kings, and there were also kings like others: Kaṃsa, Hiraṇyakaśyapu, Rāvaṇa, etc., etc. Their ego has destroyed them. Their ambitions have destroyed them. Their greed has destroyed them. It is very hard to purify the doubts, egos, ambitions, and desires. Proudness is not easy. When you take your dress out of the washing machine and you look at your shirt, you see how it looks. Now it has to go under the iron. Yes, then that becomes again nice, flat, nicely ironed. Similarly, when we are born, still our saṃskāras, our desires are like a dress which is completely full of many, many wrinkles. Then comes Gurudev and brings a nice table and then puts the dress on it. The dress knows now what is going to happen. And then he takes an iron and irons. Burning. But it becomes again beautiful. Take a piece of gold and hang it here. Everybody will say this person has something here. But that gold has to go into the fire and then come out, and then under the hammer, and when it becomes cool again, it is harder again in the fire. So is the function process between master and disciple, between the artist and master, the practice. So in this area where we are, we had recently elections. This council of this part where the garden is—in this council there are many, many villages, and the mayors of the villages are governed by one head in this council. One of our bhaktas, a disciple from a very near village, Sumer Singh Jikai—four years ago or three years, we met last time, many times, but last time. And he had a desire. He is a very good teacher, but he would like to come to serve more people. So he asked me if he should go into politics or not. I said, "Of course, he will be successful." And today he came to make praṇām to Gurudev. Mahāprabhujī is Gurujī. And with 99.80, he was a successful winner. So I would like to bless him and give him one garland for his success, and wish him that these five years will be very successful, so that through him more people get benefit and will be happy, and many problems will be solved, so that in the next election again he will have such great success. With this, I would ask him to say a few words. I think he would like to say something in his own language. [Address by Sumer Singh Jikai] "I bow at the feet of Lord Viśvanāth Jī Mahārāj. I bow at the feet of Vīrāj Māna, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Jāsarājapurī. I bow at the feet of all the saints and Mahātmas. I bow at the feet of all the devotees and saints from India and abroad. I consider myself very fortunate that I, due to the guidance of the Most Venerable Gurudev Maheśvarānand Jī, was able to become the head of the largest pañcāyat committee in Rajasthan. That is why I would like to start my speech by dedicating everything to Bāpujī. The history of India is a very big one, where Lord Śrī Rām, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Mahādev, and all the 36 crore Gods and Goddesses were born. And even after this, this is the land of great saints, great sons, and great mothers. And in the history of the world, the culture and culture of the history of India is unique. As Bāwjī has said, this is a colorful history of India, where every day comes a new day. And today we have come to the occasion of the Navarātri of Bhāgyasālī, and we have seen saints like you. Navarātri is still going on throughout the country, and I wish you all a lot of good luck in this. And in the history of India, Maheśvānand Jī Mahārāj has written a new chapter, in which, after Swami Vivekananda... this world, this world, this world, this world, this world, this world. Then today the world would have been very disturbed. Today, you are teaching the lesson of peace and well-being in the world. So that the people who are disturbed by the peace in the world come to your ashram, listen to your message, and carry out their lives. I would like to pay my respects to such saints once again. I, Maheśvarānand Jī, have taken the decision to make the name of Oṁ, the alphabet of Oṁ, an ashram, a temple, and a world as a whole. It is really a great miracle of the world. No saint would have thought of this. This is India’s land for many years. We are seeing this, but the way you have made this building ready, and the way the people of the world will see it, this will be the first place in the world where the wonders of the world will be present. And I would like to say this to the Gurujī, that I have come to this field of politics as a part of my life for the purpose of service. I have not come here to be selfish or to rule. I am not a Prime Minister, but as a servant, as a worker, as a servant of the people, I promise you for the next five years that I will serve you, and I will not hurt anyone’s heart. My heart and soul, and with selflessness, I will make this Marwad a beautiful, organized, and developed Marwad. After five years, I will tell you that I have done such work that no one has done so far. My complete determination is that I will always get the guidance of your Ārṣivād, your Śrīṇī, and your Gurūvar’s feet. So all this will happen. Will happen. After this, I will once again bow to the Guru’s feet, bowing to him, that today he gave me a chance to speak in this kind of program, and today, through this medium, in the whole world, through Swāmījī’s TV channel, I have got a chance to see the world by giving me this chance to speak. I truly consider myself fortunate. Once again, I will, Guruvar ke caranoṁ meṁ naman, vandan, jai hind, jai Bhārat. You will get the support of more and more people, and you will continue to serve them. Thank you very much for this, and good wishes for the future too." Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai! Look at that artist. So now I would like to introduce you to an artist who had a sādhanā. He can produce the sounds of different musical instruments through his mouth. So I do not know, I see him for the first time. He is near from our Bīāwar, Soja Road, near Soja, about 20 kilometers. Kind of a Śekharām. So let us see the artistic abilities. Thank you, Śekharām. He will do it. The sound of the gumma is going on the radio. Yes, on television. Both will remain. Take it. [Address by the Artist Śekharām] "You all are my prayers to the mothers, sisters, and brothers. And Gurujī has given me a lot of blessings, because I never even in my dreams had thought that in this program I would be able to perform my art here. I am not used to lying since my childhood. I am from a poor family. And my work is to perform in institutes, schools, and colleges for 10 to 15 minutes. Instruments, drums, music, vocal music, doulas, and gonguru. I perform all the music with my voice, but today I am bowing to Gurujī. Today I have got a chance to perform my art in front of you in this holy land and in this holy ashram. My program was instrumental music. Now I am going to perform a song in front of you with some drummers, drummers who play in their hands. Let us assume that I have a drum in my hand, and how do they play? That is the music of the drummers. How do the instruments and dholak music play together? Bum bachka dum bum, bachka dum bum,... bachka dum bum. Boom, boom,... boom. ......" So anyone who would like to give some donation—not a donation, but some for his further sādhanā, because he is still doing sādhanā—we can support him a little. If you want to give anything, please, here is for him. Now the date has become big, a little bit of red, a little bit of pink, a little bit of red, a little bit of pink, a little bit of red, a little bit of pink, a little bit of red, a little bit of pink, a little bit of red, a little bit of pink, a little bit of pink,... So, someone said, tons of theories are nothing compared to a grain of practice. Practice makes perfect. You will come first in archery science. You practice yoga. Many practice yoga, but who becomes perfect? Practice lagan. The feelings and desires take your destination, your aim. Then in the kaṇṭha, this is called kaṇṭha kamala, the lotus of the throat, the viśuddhi cakra. Seat of the Saraswati and Mātā Saraswati, the Divine Mother. She blesses that wisdom in your voice, in your practice. So it is not easy. It will come. He is doing sādhanā still. Then he will show you. When the ladies have the bangles on their ankles or what you call the ankle joints, and when they are walking, how does it go? And then she is climbing up on the staircase to the temple, and then again, how she is going down, and how the bells are sounding, and how she is putting on her ankle, and when it breaks, how the bells are rolling on a marble stone and make the sound all through this one. This is an inner instrument. So the sādhanā: you practice your Kriyā, you practice your Prāṇāyāma, you practice your Āsanas, meditation, etc. But if you have a Lagan, then you get perfection; otherwise, not. Therefore, Mīrābāī said: Mo ye kasu nahi, bāve, jag mayā sab sapnan kī charan binā. Mo ye kasu nahi, bāg, jag mayā sab sapanan kī. Mo ye lāgī laganā charanan kī. Mo ye lāgī laganā bhavsāgar sab sukh gayo. Chintanahī bhavaternan kī bhavasāgara sab sukhāgayo. Chintanahi bhavaternan ki mohelag Nanakimoyelagilakucharananaki Atamgyadiyogurumerapidamitibavamaranaki Charan bina moye kasuna iba e jag maya sab sapan ki. Charan bina moye kasuna iba e jag maya sab sapan ki. Mayan lagi lagana charananki. Māyā lagī laganā Mīrā, māyā ās gaī. Gurū caraṇāṅ kī mīṭhī sagā, āśā choḍ ās gaī. Gurū caraṇ kī moye lagī laganā, kī moye lagī laganā, caraṇ binā. Mo Kasunai Bha Jag Maya Sab Sapan Ki Charan Bina Bhave Jagma Yaa Saba Sapa Dha Ki Moye Lagi Charan Ki Moye Lagi Lagi Aakhiya Sata Guru Charanome Lagi Aakhiya Sata Guru. Shrī Deepā dayā luke caraṇ kamal me, Shrī Deepā, merī kishmat jāgī, merī kishmat jāgī, ākhi ākhi... No, Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān. So, what Mīrā Bāī said, Moi lagi lagan guru charanauki. Lagan also means the desire. Lagan, interest. If you study, Lagan lagā kar ke paḍhāī karegā, wo first number me āyegā. Aur lagan laga vī konī, jene bhaje phel ve. Do, tīn nīn aur re gayā hai. Love also means love for something. If you work with concentration and with the feelings to give the artistic abilities, then you can manifest it. Thy thoughts, thy feelings only, but you have to practice. No interruption, no interval, no laziness, śayam, niyam, discipline, and everyday. That makes a man perfect. Everyone has these blessings, but they need to practice. A sitar artist can create the resonance, the tune, unbelievable. And if we touch, we are breaking the wires, cutting the wires for yogīs, RCC, shelters. So, nothing is impossible for humans. Everything is possible. So, an artist, a poet, a writer, a painter, a singer, a prayer, the voice, the vocal, etc., etc., is God’s blessing and on interest. Thank you. Tomorrow we will see you again at the same time, and we will have the webcast tomorrow at 7:30. Thank you. Indian time.
