A Christmas Message of Compassion and Truth

A new era dawns, requiring compassion and non-violence towards all life. The celebration of spiritual figures is an opportunity to embody higher principles. The common practice of cutting living trees for decoration is a form of violence, akin to killing. The highest commandment is non-harming, which extends to all beings, not just humans. Consuming animal products, including dairy, causes disease and violates this principle. The sustenance provided by vegetation is complete; meat is unnecessary. The pollution of water and reliance on plastic further harm the world. True celebration involves planting trees and protecting life, creating a harmonious world for all beings.

"Thou shalt not kill. It does not say, 'You shall not kill people.' Killing is killing; a tree is also a life."

"Ahiṃsā paramo dharmaḥ—the highest commandment is in Ahiṃsā."

Śrī Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Devādhi Deva, Deveśvara, Mahādeva, Dharma Samrāṭ, Satguru, Svāmījī, Madhvalanjī, Bhagavān, Satya Sanātana Dharma, Jaya Jaya… Some have flown here. Others have driven for five or six hours. I thank and welcome you all. Children are the culture of tomorrow, and the way we educate them will shape our future. We heard a beautiful Christmas song, and our president here beautifully conveyed a message: we do not know exactly when Jesus was born. I would say, yes, we do not know when, but he was born. We can speak of incarnation or birth. There was a time when people asked Jesus, "Are you an incarnation of God?" He said, "Please do not tell me this; I am not an incarnation, I am the son of God." So, "I am born, not incarnated." It is said the great one never proclaims, "I am the great." And so it is said: higher thinking and simple living. In this sense, we celebrate Christmas today. Actually, it is on the 24th or 25th. But if a child asks, "Papa, Mother, Father, today is not Christmas. Why celebrate today?" Well, children ask such questions. This entire month, from December 15th until January 15th, we can have Christmas celebrations. Secondly, as Dr. Śānti said, we should pray for all those who cannot properly celebrate today or be with their families. We pray for everyone; there are many holidays across cultures, religions, and nations. Our dear Bibī was with me in India for seven or eight years. There was a shop opposite the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds. The shopkeeper, opposite Hagenau, ran a business with computer horoscopes. He invited me insistently. I went, and he said, "Come, we’ll make a horoscope for you on the computer." But he knew if I came, everyone would follow. Mine was free, but others paid 200 or 300 rupees. Yet, my horoscope and Bibī’s were 100% identical. Now I ask, why did she not become a Svāmī? Or, why did I not become a circus performer? Perhaps for just a few seconds. One second, as mentioned, multiplied 39 times in mathematics—no computer or person in this world can calculate that 39 times. This is according to the rotation of the sun. As I said, the thought she received in her upbringing, from her parents and her dear Master, is very beautiful. It is a good thought: that millions of trees are cut down for Christmas trees, and then new ones are planted. But that is nothing. A tree dies. You kill one tree, and then a second one is there, and you kill again. It is exactly like an addict who gives birth to babies, and the babies are beaten. This is good news for the whole world: do not bring living cherry trees to your front door. On the contrary, at Christmas, we should go into the forest and plant a tree. That would be a good pair of grandchildren. Can you imagine one trillion trees? Next year, there will be more. It will make for beautiful nature and a healthy environment. The second point is loneliness. And if it is true, as written in the Bible in the Ten Commandments, it says, "Thou shalt not kill." It does not say, "You shall not kill people." Killing is killing; a tree is also a life. As soon as you cut a tree, you kill it. A personality like Jesus certainly has compassion for all living beings on earth. Once, someone asked why Jesus said you could eat fish. It was a situation; they were in the middle of the sea with nothing and were hungry. They said, if they have nothing, it is better to eat than to die. The second instance was also a situation where people wanted to eat meat, but nothing was permitted. In India, it was and still is the case that, though the government has tried to suppress it, people do everything in secret. Somewhere an animal is beaten, an exposed animal. This was only because they wanted to eat meat but nothing was allowed. So they said, in the name of a deity or god, one must offer. Afterwards, they said it is prasāda. Care and wisdom are still much greater in India. So, slaughtering animals in the name of God—Sondamogandhi has forbidden it. Nonviolence, Ahiṃsā, non-harming, that is the first duty, the principle for people, that they do not kill anything. Now, all over the world, as can be seen, how many people are ill? It all comes from killing animals and from animals that receive unnatural food. This also affects the human body. Unfortunately, also in milk. In the dairy industry, how they manipulate everything—then taking this milk, drinking it, consuming dairy products, is harmful. Certainly, 90% sure, one gets cancer. Therefore, now all over the world, especially the youth, have given up dairy products and started what is called veganism. They also do not want honey, nor milk, nor various other things, because that too is a form of hiṃsā, not ahiṃsā. Now, the Kali Yuga is going to end. And Satya Yuga has begun. I shared that three years ago, right? Indeed, you should all practice the spiritual. And you come back again to end the Kali Yuga and to begin the Satya Yuga. It is the duty of all of us, dependent on us. And also the children. It does not matter which person says a human cannot live without meat. That is a complete misunderstanding. Everything that is good nourishment for us, all substances and nutrition, is in the vegetation. So when a doctor says you must eat fish or meat, I will say no. Secondly, I will say—it is a bit mean of me—but I will say, "Doctor, could you study or read once more, yes?" Just like in former Yugoslavia, we had a seminar on Asian cuisine about 30–35 years ago. Everyone was vegetarian. People came to see what vegetarians look like. A doctor wrote an article in the newspaper: "Be careful, this is a sect; they will kill our people because they do not eat meat. Please be careful; those who do not eat meat there will not have children. Those who eat meat cannot have children." I saw it on Telegram; back then, there were no SMS. I have a Telegram face. And then, "Doctor, what you wrote was beautiful. Very, very intelligent. 'Do not eat meat, otherwise you will not have children.' Therefore, India has overpopulation." He came back, came to that hotel, and wanted to speak with me. We spoke, and he said, "Sorry for what I wrote." All these diseases, aggressions, war, and everything people suffer from—why? Because they have nothing. They have no culture when it comes to what they eat and their home life. Therefore, eating meat means killing animals. And now, not only do they kill animals, but they also kill humans. So Ahiṃsā paramo dharmaḥ—the highest commandment is in Ahiṃsā. So, dear Bibī, has planted two beautiful thoughts in our minds. Because here we celebrate Christmas. We pray to God. And, on the other side, many animals are killed for us; they suffer, they are in pain. Thus, will God come to us here or go to them? That means Christmas celebrations are meaningless. They are only for the selfish. Under the tree lies something for your wife, husband, or children. But who thinks of the children, of these birds, the chickens, pigs, and so on? A sage contemplates, from the tiny ant to the elephant. All living beings feel love, pain, sadness. All animals love their babies. And so, today, at this Christmas time—we are celebrating a week earlier—I wish you God’s grace, God’s blessings, and spiritual development. A happy, successful, and healthy New Year. So, who is going to do this grandchild pair? I am not saying my children must eat meat. Why? It is not necessary. No. Thank God, I now have five generations here in Europe. Five generations. The first time I came, the elder family, the grandfather, became disciples. The children also became disciples. And they also had children. That was three generations. And now, over these three years, there have already been two more generations here. So, I am your grandfather. And these people who are here are all vegetarian and very holy and very childlike. We have beautiful children. We have a lawyer, Peter Śaṅkarapurī. He is a brilliant student, and so are his sisters. We saw a hundred children in the summer. They are very smart and very healthy. That is how it is. Education is very, very important. But it will come. All over the world. It is like a storm. Nothing can be held back. It will happen. The time will come. And if someone says, "I eat meat." What? You eat meat? You kill the animals. It will come to pass. This time is coming very soon. So, nevertheless, we pray to God and say, because Jesus said so, "Lord, they do not know what they are doing." And so, we also think that we do not know what we are doing, because the doctors are to blame. And the doctors are not very guilty; the business people are. Jesus said, "They don’t know. Lord, God, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." But he did not say to forgive those who were the cause of the crucifixion. Only half a sentence remains. And so it is that such a situation has been created. They will receive punishment—health-wise and much, much more. So, we do not complain about anyone. We forgive all and create a beautiful world with trees, animals, people, all beings. Also water. It will be a big problem with water. Our water, we should protect it. And water is so polluted. One day it will be such that one will not be able to drink anything. When I came to Europe five decades ago, it was not a tradition at all to take a bottle of water, carry it with you, and leave it in the car. It was just a little mineral water for the iron or such minerals. That is why it is called mineral water. And mineral water was kept in a glass bottle. Now everything is in plastic. The water we drink from plastic leaves an essence in our body. Now it has been said there is a little plastic in our blood. No matter from whom we take a sample, we find a little plastic. So, we say, "I say no to plastic," but it is not possible. When I fly, my airplane is usually made of plastic as well. Much becomes plastic. Without plastic, we can’t do anything either. Many things are possible with plastic, but not the kind we mean—those plastic bags or little sacks. In this spirit, I wish you all the very best and God’s blessings. In other āśramas, in other countries, bring the spiritual knowledge and the teachings of Mahāprabhujī, which are completely pure, full of devotion, love, understanding, and the grace of God and the realization of God. So everywhere in this world, especially here in Europe, our thousands and thousands of Bhagavāns. I thank those who spread the light and practice and work together in harmony. Thank you for your help, thank you for practicing together, and thank you for sharing the knowledge so that everyone is happy and everyone will remain healthy. With this, all the very best. I wish you a happy and successful New Year and a blessed Christmas. With this, we sing a mantra. Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ…
