The Path of Conscious Living and Mercy

The soul's purification through yoga and mercy is essential in this age. We gather in a place with strong spiritual vibration, welcoming many from around the world. This practice is global and neutral, unrelated to religion, focusing solely on liberating the soul. We are covered by ignorance and karma, often acting without knowing the consequences, which causes suffering for the body, family, and environment. The inner soul suffers greatly. The science of yoga in daily life is for developing spirituality, gaining clarity, and purifying karma to seek forgiveness for unconscious acts. A key difference exists between religion and spirituality; spiritual purity cleanses negative karma. We possess intellect and discernment, but must follow our inner wisdom over ignorance or ego. Central to this is karuṇā, or mercy, which must extend to all living beings. Every creature values its life and feels fear. The demand for meat creates a chain of harm, with major karmic responsibility falling on the consumer. This action, often done unconsciously, creates a cover over the soul, hindering liberation. Purification comes through sincere practice, prayer, and mantras, leading to higher consciousness.

"O God, you are known as equal-visioned. You do not count our sin."

"Therefore, the science of yoga in daily life was developed, and millions of people practice around the world."

We are here again in our beautiful ashram, in the beautiful country called the Czech Republic. They say it is a country where milk and honey flow. I hope the milk is still flowing, and the honey too. All dear Bhaktas, dear ones around the world who are with us through the webcast, I welcome you also and bless you in the name of the Alakpurījī Siddhāpīṭa Paramparā. We have again with us our Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Vivek Purījī, Umā Purījī, and also our dear Swāmī Hari Harānandjī, Hari Purī. Hari Purī, many of you know him from when you go to India. We welcome him also. And we have our host, Swāmī Gajānandjī, because Gajānandjī is at home now. Parvatī and many others are there—Dobrý, also Sadhvidayā. This time, especially, we have our very dear guests, our Gurubhais and Gurusisters. A couple comes from the root of Mahāprabhujī’s lineage, from where Mahāprabhujī was living in the house, for nearly 25 years near Nepal, in Bola Guḍā and Kedārī. From there comes our dear sister Kailāśa Purohit—can you stand up?—and her husband, Dineśa Purohit, a very dear disciple from Jodhpur. They now live in Atlanta, the American Atlanta. We have many Atlantas. In the Rajasthani dialect, 'atlanta' means 'bring the chapati flour'—atalao. As well, we have our dear sister Kṛpā Devī from Washington and our Sāvitrī from Toronto. Also, the whole family with the juniors and my very, very dear, loving little one, Mohana—his name—the whole family is here. They came from Vancouver; we welcome them. We also have a couple coming from Brisbane, Agnideva and Ratana—where are they? They take care of our Brisbane ashram. And from the Sunshine Coast in Australia, our Tīrthapurī and Yamunā, Karma Sannyāsīs. They went from the wave to Hungary; they are in Hungary now. Oh, they are here. Yes, thank you. From India, our Pandit is here; he is going to purify the space. Yes, that will be something I will tell you about later. Many are still here. If I repeat all, the whole evening will go. So it is very global, and I am very happy to see you all. This is the blessing of Mahāprabhujī, Gurujī, and Devapurījī. This seminar or retreat, as usual, is in our beautiful ashram, the Mahāprabhudīp Satsaṅga Foundation. This ashram now has a very strong spiritual vibration. If it were not so, then all of you, we would not be here. This ashram is also very important and dear to us because our dear Holy Gurujī was here. This seminar has certain programs. First is for the juniors. As usual, every time, every year, our juniors are very beautiful, very kind to us, and they are always silent. They practice, they organize nice programs, and time passes very quickly. I think I am getting old. My juniors, who were small, are now parents already. They have grown in the beautiful garden of yoga in their life. I was surprised that, especially in these countries, they are with me for five generations, and it is very beautiful. It is not just one person, but the whole family. So you can imagine how this generation has grown in the sāttvic way of living: eating sattvic, vegetarian food and practicing yoga in daily life. Yoga in today’s life is worldwide, and it is very neutral. One can practice; it does not matter which religion you follow or if you have no religion. We are not developing new cultures or religions, but we are developing, purifying, and liberating our soul. These other different things will remain here on this earth. But it is very important for us in this Kali Yuga time that we develop our soul towards spirituality. There is still misunderstanding or a lack of clarity about the difference between religion and spirituality. The purity of spirituality can purify all negative karmas, and the soul becomes free. We are covered by so many vibrations, so many karmic influences, and by ignorance. We do not know. We are doing something; we do not know what we are doing. There are two aspects to this subject: we know what we are doing, but we do not know what we are doing and what the result will be. So these are two: we are doing, but we do not know the result of what we are doing. The body is also suffering. Nowadays, the family is suffering. The environment is suffering. Many things happen. But within this body, that beautiful soul is suffering very much. We are suffering here on this mortal world. And when we go out of this body, we are again involved in certain other atmospheres. We are caught like a fish in a net. Therefore, the science of yoga in daily life was developed, and millions of people practice around the world. They are also learning, and people are watching our webcast. What we do in the seminars is work on our soul to develop towards spirituality, to come to clarity, and to purify our karmas. So that we can forgive whatever we have done, and so that we are in a position to pay our respects, so that whatever we have done unconsciously, the Lord may forgive us. There is a nice bhajan from a saint called Sūradāsajī. Sūradāsajī was blind by birth, but his bhajans, what he wrote, are very, very famous. These bhajans are sung in many films and events. His physical eyes were not visible to him, but he had inner eyes, third eyes. Yes, thank you, pravda, tak adobri. Therefore, it is very true what Swāmījī said. We should follow that. Seeing this, those bhajans... yes. He said to God: O God, please do not mind, or please do not notice, my mistakes. Do not pay your attention towards my mistakes. Prabhujī, merī avaguṇa chitnā dharo. Samadraṣṭi hai nāma tī haro. O God, you are known as equal-visioned. You do not count our sin. If one is a sinner or one is not a sinner, God, all are equal to you. Samadraṣṭi hai nāma tī haro. Hey Prabhu, if you can, you can let me cross this ocean of māyā. Avaguṇa chitta na daro ho, Prabhujī mere. Avaguṇa chitta na daro ho, Samadarśī he nāma tī haro. Samadarśī he nāma tī haro, Cāhe to pāra karo ho. Oh Prabhujī mere, avaguṇa citta na dāro, Gurudeva mere, avaguṇa citta na dāro, Ik loṭā pūjā me rakhtā, ik baḍhīkā paryo, Ik loṭā pūjā me rakhtā, ik baḍhīkā paryo, Oh, oh,... oh. Samadarśī Nāma Tīkharo, Samadarśī Nāma Tīkharo, Cāhe To Pāra Kāro Prabhujī, Mere Avaguṇa Citta Na Dāro, Gurudeva Mere Avaguṇa Citta Na Dāro. Ek nadī, ek nahalkā havātā. Melo hī nirabharo, ek nadī, ek nahalkā havātā. Melo hī nirabharo. Oh, oh,... oh. Samadarśī Nāma Tīkharo, Samadarśī Nāma Tīkharo, Cāhito Parakāro Prabhujī, Mere Avaguṇa Citta Na Dāro Abhivarmohi Parahutāro, Abhivarmohi Parahutāro, Naipranajātāro Prabhujī mere, Avaguṇacitta Na Dāro Gurudeva mere, Avaguṇacitta Na Dāro Samadarśī Nāma Tīharo, Samadarśī Nāma Tīharo, Cāhe To Pāra Karo. Prabhujī, mere avaguṇa citta na dāro, Gurudeva mere... We do things consciously, but it is done unconsciously. Because Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said in the Bhagavad Gītā, in the Karmayoga chapters: "Arjuna, whatever you are doing, you should know the form of the action." This is the first time you know what you are doing. When you know the form of the action, then your eyes will open, your inner eyes. At that time, our intellect will show us the picture, the object. But still, we cannot give up. Then our vivekā comes, the intelligence. Our vivekā gives very clear results: what you are doing is best, go ahead; or what you are doing is not good, bad—don’t do it. If you follow your vivekā, then we are protected. But ignorance, our desires, or our ego will say, "We do it." Now, we are human. Out of 8.4 million different creatures, we got that kind of intellect and vivekā. And we do have more in our heart, what we call karuṇā. Karuṇā means mercy. We pray: "O Mother Mary, for Thy mercy," or "O Kṛṣṇa, O Rāma, we are praying for Thy mercy." And what is that mercy? "Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not kill." Who said this? Jesus. Did he say, "Don’t kill humans, and you can kill others"? That was not in the constitution of Jesus’s intellect, or his mercy. But animals do not know. So in the human heart, there is karuṇā, there is mercy. And this mercy, karuṇā, is first towards every living being. It does not matter if it is humans, animals, birds, fish, or anything. Thank you, this clock is always my witness. So, we have to show them our mercy, our kindness, our humbleness. If someone killed us, how would we feel? Even if someone says, "I am going to kill you, and don’t worry, within one week I will kill you," this one week will be horror. Day and night, you cannot sleep, and you do not know where to hide. Life is dear to everyone. Similar feelings has every creature. Yes, similar feelings has every creature. Now, if we are doing consciously or unconsciously, but we are killing, we eat those animals. It is said the first guilt or effect will be on the person who gives that animal to the butcher, or who is selling it. Then, before that, the major sin, the major suffering in that sin, will be for the one for whom it is being sold, for whom he is killing. Who requires that means to eat? So, 90% of the sin goes to the one who is eating. If nobody will eat, who will kill the animals? Only one who is mad. That is it. So this is what I wanted to tell: that we do consciously, but we are not doing consciously; we are doing unconsciously. Still, it is not very clear in the human brain. They do not realize that mercy. It is said that one feels the pain. Everyone says, "Oh, I am hurt, oh, I have pain." That is nothing. But that one feels the pain where the arrow went through and through. And that will make, in astral form, a kind of cover over your soul. So that soul will not come to that Brahmaloka. It is rolling again and again further, like a snowball. How to come out of that ball that we are inside? Now, if you believe or do not believe, it does not change the reality. If you believe or not believe, it is sunset now. Someone will say, "No, well, in America, somewhere there in Canada, the sun is not setting." But wait, wait, it will set. So the time will come. If the human will realize this, then the human soul will be liberated. Nowadays, even the doctors—they do not know, and they are supporting that we should eat meat, and we should eat eggs, and this and that. Mahatma Gandhi was eating nothing, neither this nor that. Very simple food, but how was his brain? Swami Vivekānanda and many others—and it is sure Jesus was not non-vegetarian. The many great personalities in the world... Now so many diseases are coming, and we are suffering from those diseases, there is so much cancer. This is our nourishment, because from what you are feeding the animals, how these animals are, how is their brain, their fear, their suffering? Do not think that animals do not feel; they do cry. You see that their whole body is trembling. That is coming to those who are eating. How can we say that we are liberated? Yes, one day when you are old, have lost everything, you will die. But this dying is not the last one. It will repeat again and again. Therefore, that purification, that prayer... If you go to the church to pray, yes, it is something. But what are you doing after, when you come out of the church? You are going somewhere and eating beef or pork, or goat, etc. So, maybe there is a small tunnel to go to Brahmaloka, so only limited human souls can go there; others go somewhere else. So, wake up, wake up. And that purifies through sādhanā, prayers, mantras, in any religion, anywhere. Religion is all inspiration, but to bring it to the highest consciousness, you have to do.
