Conference the Yoga is Science of Human The Destiny of Soul

Yoga is the science of humans and the destiny of the soul. This science existed before Śiva manifested. The human body is its own hospital, containing all treatment within. Discipline must begin now, not tomorrow. Health is the primary happiness, gained through proper nourishment and self-care. The essence is unity; all beings are one, like drops from a single ocean. The soul's journey is like a leaf carried by the wind, destined to return to its source. Yoga is a spiritual gift for the entire world, uniting countries in practice and harmony.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Good evening, dear brothers and sisters. I am very happy to welcome you here today to a conference under the name of Yoga, the Science of Humans. This conference is held under the auspices of the Śrī Svāmī Madhavānanda World Peace Council and under the organization of Yoga in Daily Life. Our keynote speaker for tonight is our very much beloved Swāmī Maheśvarānandajī, and we are looking forward to his speech. I would also like to warmly welcome our dear VIP guest, Her Excellency, the Ambassador of India in Prague, Mrs. Chauhan. First, I would like to invite our next speaker, Professor Milada Krejci. She works at the university called Palestra and will speak about yoga and seniors. Professor Milada Krejci: Good evening. My greetings to you, our dear and respected Viśvaguru Swāmī Maheśvarānandajī. Ladies and gentlemen, I am very honored to briefly introduce you to my research project on applying yoga in daily life. This project was selected and is financially supported by the Czech Grant Agency GACR, a prestigious grant agency. After two years, research was carried out in all regions of the Czech Republic involving seniors. We developed detailed diagnostic instruments covering physical state, mental state, and social standing. The interventions applied were techniques from Yoga in Daily Life, especially from the book Yoga Against Back Pain. We applied a four-week intensive yoga program for seniors, which did not exclude those in wheelchairs or lying in senior homes. The participants were voluntary, taking part in group exercises or individual programs. We chose a four-week intervention so the method would be easily applicable in senior homes, nursing homes, spas, and wellness centers. This year we are evaluating the results and writing publications for prestigious foreign and Czech scientific journals. We also plan to present detailed results in a book. Already, from personal experience in the field, I can tell you about seniors suffering from neurological issues like hand tremors. We saw that after even one yoga lesson, this shaking diminished. Thanks to including the social level in our analysis, we see improvement in social interaction and quality of life. The participants expressed a wish to continue, so we are preparing workshops for their assistants and facility workers. In conclusion, I thank you for creating this system. Previous research shows how well it can be applied and processed. We thank you for all the inspirations we find in the publications. I express my gratitude for this high-quality system of Yoga in Daily Life where we find so much inspiration. Her Excellency, Mrs. Chauhan: It gives me immense pleasure to be present here today in the presence of His Holiness Swāmī Maheśvarānandajī and scores of friends of India. I am indeed fortunate to be amongst you, particularly since June is the month of India in the Czech Republic. As you see on stage, there is a photograph of Mahātmā Gandhi. This year, the Government of India is celebrating his 150th birth anniversary worldwide, including in the Czech Republic. Mahātmā Gandhi’s entire life work, his philosophy, his way of life, and what he taught, including women’s empowerment, remains as relevant today as it was a century ago. The Czech Government has been an ideal partner in this celebration. Only two days ago, on June 5th, the world observed World Environment Day. This year, at the request of the Government of India, it was dedicated to the Mahātmā and observed with the planting of 150 trees in each country. Everyone is aware of his philosophy of non-violence, but very few know he was also a great environmentalist who gave a clarion call of "back to nature." In full realization of this, the Czech Ministry of Environment decided to dedicate June 5, 2019, to his memory, gifting 150 trees for planting across the Czech Republic. A symbolic tree was planted at the Embassy of India. We are grateful to the Czech Government for this noble gesture. Furthermore, the Czech Government has decided to issue a special commemorative stamp on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary. This stamp will be issued on June 26th, World Postal Day, at the Embassy of India in Prague. There are many other ways in which June is the India month. Swāmī Maheśvarānandajī is a yogī and a social revolutionary. Under his guidance, you have celebrated and embraced yoga, achieving balance between body and mind. To celebrate you and yoga, India, through the United Nations, declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. Celebrations will be held worldwide from June 15th to 23rd. This is your day. With the assistance of the Honourable Mayor of Prague, we have located a nice location in the middle of Prague, the Strelecky Ostrov Island on the Vltava River, for morning āsanas and exercises from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 15th. I request you all to please be part of this celebration. Please come out in large numbers and place Prague on the world map as a place the entire world should look at when it comes to yoga. To put the icing on the cake, we have decided to bring the Festival of India to the Czech Republic. Indian classical performers of Kathakali, Kathak, and Bharatnatyam will come, with performances in Prague, Brno, and Ostrava. For those in Prague, I invite you to the Karlin Theatre on June 24th. Please come; it’s a big hall with enough seats. Please be part of us on this important day. With these words, I thank Swāmī Maheśvarānanda once again for gracing Prague with his holy presence. Thank you so much for your time. Namaskār. Swāmī Maheśvarānanda: Děkujeme, děkujeme. And thank you for your invitation. We are sure to come to practice yoga. Oṁ Kārvindu Sayuktaṁ Nityadāyantī Yoginā Kaṁdaṁ Mokṣadaṁ Ce Oṁ Kārayānamonamaha Brahmanandaṁ Paramasukhadaṁ Kevalaṁ Jñānamūrtiṁ Vandatitaṁ Gaganasadṛśyaṁ Tasmāśyādilakṣyaṁ Ekaṁ Nityaṁ Vimalācalaṁ Sarvādhiṣakṣibhūtaṁ Bhavatītaṁ Trigunarahitaṁ Satgurutvaṁ Namāmyaham. Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ. Pavamāna Sūktam. Salutation to the Cosmic. Her Excellency also says, "My sister." In India, we say sister. And sister is more than Excellency, so when the sister gives the order, then, brothers, all have to follow. It means we got the order to make a great yoga day under the guidance of Her Excellency. We have received such a request that we really celebrate International Yoga Day with her help and support. This city is known as Prague. There are two Prageś. One is called Dev Priyak in the Himalayas, and the second is here in the Czech Republic. Prague is known as a very spiritual city. For many years, there were many spiritual and divine yogīs. India is spiritual, and Prague is spiritual. So it’s a beautiful day that India and the Czech Republic are uniting. India has a great relation with the Czech Republic, and the Czechs also have great respect for India. So this year we must have a grand Yoga Day celebration. From every part of the countryside to all our yoga centers, you should come. It will be very great, and the message from the Czech Republic will go very well to India. Our respected Prime Minister Modījī wants to have peace, harmony, and spirituality for the whole world. Yoga is a human science. Also, we have in India a great yogī, that’s called Rāmdevjī, of Ayurveda and everything, but yoga is his life. He gets up at 3:30 in the morning no matter when he went to sleep. We have a great friendship. Many times when we meet, he comes and takes me to his personal room. In Haridwar, there is his biggest center. He took me in his arms, and we went together. He said, "Come, we will sit in my room." There was a very nice, big bed with at least 600 books on it in many different places. And there is one carpet, a very thin carpet—not a plastic yoga mat. He has one shawl and one lungi, no shirt. He puts the shawl on and sleeps there on the carpet. He’s a great person, an Ayurveda expert. He said, "I will earn the money, and I will give it for all." To gain money is not a bad thing; to use it for good things is. So many of you know, 99% of you know, it seems that the spiritualities and good health from the ancient saints and ṛṣis are coming back again in this time. When I came to this country, Czech, Slovak, in 1973, there were some yoga programs, but not very much. People were thinking yoga is like a fakir sitting and lying on a needle bed. Then, when I came, I began to teach yoga here. It was the Soviet territory. Many yogīs didn’t want to come. That government told me, "Swāmījī, we respect you and welcome you, but three things you should not do." I am telling this so that Her Excellency may have an insight into my yoga work here in the Czech Republic. They said, "We know that you have a great Hindu religion, and you can do that because it is pure. The Soviet Union also had great friendship with India. So India has great respect and friendship with the whole world. Sometimes this is like a mosquito somewhere. So, no politics, no fanaticism, and do not take anything movable from Czechoslovakia." It means gold, money, etc. I said, "Yes, I didn’t come for this." Many other people, yogīs, said to me, "Are you stupid? Why are you going to these countries? They give you nothing." I said, "I didn’t come to get from here. I came to give you, and what I give, no one else can give you." That is the science of yoga, and the philosophy of yoga is the same, like your country. Since that time, you know, Yoga in Daily Life has spread like anything—also to other European countries, Australia, New Zealand, America, Mexico, and around the world. But the Czech Republic is something. I would say that our respected Ambassador will be feeling here a very comfortable and very spiritual atmosphere. We are always ready. Anything that you need, we will do it. We have to show that, yes, we will support you in every aspect. But some things she should also support us. What? To give some spiritual yogic thoughts and some books, and from time to time, the visa. Because when we went to India, we had no problems getting a visa. I think there is only one country in the world which gives the visa immediately. Though the Czech Republic takes a long time to give the visa. So, my dear, yoga is the spirituality for the whole world. In Āyurveda, the first mantra or slogan is said: "Pela Sukh Nirogikāya." The word "Sukh" we don’t have in your language, neither in English. Sukha and duḥkha. Sukha means comfortable or happiness. Many things you can tell, but no word sukha. Comfortable is different, etc. But Āyurveda says the best happiness is a healthy body. Some philosopher said, "Health is not everything, but everything is nothing without health." That health we cannot gain from anything. We have to gain our own Self in our body. So this is our subject in conference: the science of the body, the human science. So in "Pahalasukh Nirogikāya," first is to eat very well. Eat and eat, little by little. Good eating, good food—not junk food. Eat more, have that nourishment for your body that you need. So in Āyurveda, the first mantra is "Phella sukha nirogi kāya." You should write it in your room and everywhere: the first good life is a healthy body. There are many yoga people and elderly people in India who, when they have some health problem, feel they are ill. They have the best treatment: for one week, don’t eat anything, just warm water. In three days, you will be completely healthy, but one week is the best. This is the best treatment. But nowadays, with a little problem, we go and take some medicine. Today we have a problem because we are used to eating small things all the time. So treat yourself. We are all used to dealing with medicines, but it is necessary to learn to treat ourselves. In yoga and in Patañjali, it is said you should follow discipline. "Atha yoga anuśāsana." In Patañjali’s first piece, this is the mantra. "Pahala sukha nirogikāya," which we spoke of already. "Atha anuśāsana." So, second, discipline. When should we begin? Patañjali said, "Atha." It means just now. Don’t say, "Tomorrow I will begin." All our brothers and sisters here, you should listen. You shall begin now to make a saṅkalpa. That discipline, discipline in everything. Then we will not be ill. We will have no problems. We will be ever happy. Our body is our own hospital. All treatment is within us, and that is given to you, within you, as a yoga exercise practice. Patañjali lived about 7,000 years ago. But yoga itself existed before Śiva manifested. It is said that "eko’haṁ bahusyāmi"—"I am one, and now I will multiply." Svayaṃ Bhū. The Svayaṃ. I do it. So we ourselves, we are Svayaṃ Bhū. You are Śiva. It doesn’t matter if you are male or female. It is the Svayambhū, the same, and that is with us. Yama and niyama, āsana and prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā, and samādhi. This was Patañjali who brought it together. But there are many other techniques of yoga. First, haṭha yoga. If we cannot practice haṭha yoga, our inner hospital will be destroyed, so we have to come to ourselves. We have to make ourselves happy. All the governments and politicians came together into the United Nations. Modījī gave a beautiful lecture about human science. Yoga is known throughout the whole world, but Modījī inspired them, and within no time all countries said yes. But Modījī said that is not enough. He said, "I wish that all the people of the world should be happy and healthy." Did you ever hear from the Indian embassy about yoga? Though I have been there many times, I saw many ambassadors, and they said, "Swāmījī, we don’t have this yoga." They always tried to remain aside. They think it’s a religion, but religion is not a bad thing. The Western countries were living on or from religion, but now Modījī brought it to every embassy of India, everywhere, and gave them more and more support—not force—and brought the practice of yoga. Yoga is yoga. But after some particular people, they are keeping their society or something, name of the yoga. For example, you believe Jesus. Do you say Professor Jesus? Or Dr. Jesus? No, only Jesus. Krishna—is it Dr. Krishna? Professor Krishna? No, only Krishna. Rāma is only Rāma. Similarly, it is a short and sweet one word. Then, about Svayambhū, the Śiva. In our philosophies or literature, it says there are many yugas. From Satya Yuga, and again and again. There are many, many yugas. One mantra: Kalpa. In the beginning, it is said there was nothing. Only the space. Now, it is said there are two in that space: Chetan and Jara. Chetan means awaken, and Jara means just like earth. Chetan means desire. Icchā means desire. So Chetan has no desires, nothing to do. And the other part, what we call the stones or this and that, cannot do anything. How the creation begins, and between that is what we call the Svayambhū. Within you is the Śiva, and within you is the Śakti, and that Svayambhū is you. When you have stupid things, it is your Svayambhū, or the knowledge of good things, it is your Śiva. This machine, the human machine, is doing everything. So Anant—Anant means endless. That is a forest like a horizon. It is like infinite, like a horizon. How far is the horizon? The horizon is that as far as we go, that far goes further. As you try to come close to the horizon, it goes further. So there is no end. Then there is the Chetan and the space. Where does yoga begin? Before Śiva. But Śiva came then as a yogī in a meditation posture. All positions, postures, and yoga techniques are coming from Śiva. The conscious and the space. Both are not visible. We don’t know. Consciousness is first, or the space is the first. How and what it is—so the conscious and the space. Between, there are three principles. That’s called balance, harmony, and power. So these are three principles: the balance, the harmony. Then Śiva comes. So the Vedas say, "Eko’haṁ bahu syām"—"I am one, and now I will multiply." And how will you multiply? It is Svayambhū. He knows. First is the sound, and that sound means it is a Nādarūpa Parabrahma. The resonance is the Brahman. The resonance is the reality. Nāda, rūpa. Through this nāda, that rūpa, the element begins. Space is there, but the fire, agni, the light. Then the air, water, earth, etc. So Śiva-Śakti is within ourselves. Do not understand Śiva and Śakti as physical bodies. The Śakti is also like a male, or the male could be like a female. There is no attribute of what we think male and female. There is no attribute that we understand as male or female. That is within us. That Svayambhū is within us, and you need your Svayambhū. You can have your Svayambhū to cure your disease. Yes, there are many yogīs who have the Svayaṃbhū. Similarly, in this way, the science of the human is this: we are one. We are one. You are sitting here, so many, and me also, but in reality we are one. There are many mosquitoes here, but that mosquito is not separate; we are one. All creatures, we are one, physically or astrally, we are still one. What is the destiny? We always say, "My destiny, your destiny, their destiny." Yes, that is our destiny, and where the destiny will lead us. But still, we are one. I will not take a long time; Her Excellency, we have given too much time. Let us say, ocean. Did you see the ocean? Can you raise your hand up? Very good. Everyone who raised their hand, they are all one. Your river is also one. Now, we will, of course, tomorrow—the afternoon tomorrow—we will continue. But the ocean, the ocean is water, but the whole ocean is a very tiny, very tiny drop of the water, as a round. Though the ocean is big, there are many, many drops. And in these drops, one, one, all is in one. From the ocean, through the heat, the steam comes out. It is from the ocean, but this, what we call the steam, is a little, little, millions of the part of it. We call this steam, or pāra. When pāra rises up, it becomes the clouds. Many, many drops are coming together in the cloud. It begins to rain. Big, big drops, one drop which is falling. You have many, many, how many thousand drops in that? It will fall on the earth. Destiny: some water drops will be in the ocean, and some in the Sahara. Some part will go again in there, and some will remain there. When will I meet again my ocean? There’s one nice poem: "Patta tutta dal se, le gayi pavan udai, ab bichare kab milenge, dur padenge, jai." So, it is said, the destiny: "patta tutta dal se"—from the branch of the tree, the leaf falls down. From the top of the tree, a leaf falls, "pavan le jāye udāya"—and air, the wind, has taken away that leaf somewhere. The wind carries it away somewhere, far away. On the other side of the rocks or hill, that leaf will fall down there. The wind carries that leaf away. When will I meet again? Sooner or later I will meet. But when? Ale kdy? The ocean. Oceán. The steam. Pára. And the clouds. Mraky. Rain. Dešť. And so on. One day you will come to the ocean. "Eko’haṁ bahu syāmi." I am one, and I am multiplied. We will come back. How we will learn more tomorrow. So we will continue the science of the humans, the destiny of the soul, and how many, who is the soul. Thank you, thank you very much. Tomorrow we will continue, and those who are not coming tomorrow, please, if you don’t come, then bring me back to the yoga day. And who knows, I will be there. So don’t miss it. I will not give up the leaf of the tree. It was only that fall down from the branch, take the destiny, and lie somewhere. But how? Where did it come from? Further, how is our soul moving? Think over the whole night in dream. You can easily follow. If you can’t dream and only talk, then it’s not right. Sleep deep, and it will come close. And on the yoga day, there is a surprise. One of our yoga brothers, Oja, will give you some surprise, a very nice surprise, colorful and something. Thank you, all the best. Yes, adios.
