The importance of the traditions

Satsaṅg is the true path, more vital than pilgrimage to holy rivers. Today is Guru Pūrṇimā, also honoring Buddha's enlightenment. Various faiths maintain holy days and disciplines, though adherence often falters. True devotion requires unwavering resolve, not merely calling upon deities in distress. Intellect is the divine gift distinguishing humanity; without it, one remains like an animal. Regular satsaṅg uplifts, while bad association degrades. Spiritual resolve is the essential guide.

"Sā janavāle lāge sadāhī satsaṅg."

"Kuṣaṅga will destroy you and will make you again into the animal’s life."

Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India

Satsaṅg is a spiritual discourse about Yoga. "Svarga nahīṁ durlabh hai, satsaṅg rājapatha aṅkita takhanā. Oyā palakkā meṁ bhaṅgā bole, oyā palakkā meṁ bhaṅgā bole. Sarjanā vāle lāg sadā’ī sātha, sarjanā vāle lāg aisā. Sadāī satsaṅg, satsaṅg tāsam, kāśī na mathurā nai aprayāg nai gaṅgā. Satsaṅg tajamākarṣiṇāmatoraṇaiyaprayāgnayagān. Nīceśvabhāvamite satsaṅgse, nīceśvabhāvamite satsaṅgse. Saju brajan sadāī sattva kahe kahā. Bhagavāne kī je, śiṣya dveṣa, Mahādeva kī je." Very nice, very good with this bhajan. Śrī Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī, Devādidev Deveśvara Mahādeva kī, Satguru Svāmīmādhavaṁ Bhagavānakī. Today is a very holy day. First is the day of the Guru Deva, Guru Pūrṇimā. Today is Guru Pūrṇimā. We are also making it in July, Guru Pūrṇimā. We call it Guru Pūrṇimā. But on the day when it is Guru Pūrṇimā, Guru means the Wednesday. On Thursday, according to the astrology, according to the days, months, years, and from the very beginning it is there, and now every different kind of religion. They also have the day of their, at least the one-year day. It doesn’t matter if it is Jewish, a very old tradition, also in the other where they are. From there it also comes, Jewish also, Christians also, but before was that this. Muslims, etc., all there is a day, and their holy saints, the monks, etc., they have their meaning on that day. And you see that the Muslims, you have seen now how strong they are following their religion, the Muslims, Islam. And it is said that at that time of the day, wherever we have temples, ashrams, churches, etc. And they also have a mosque. They also go, they wash, clean the hands, they clean the mouth, the feet, and they go there. So for them, it doesn’t matter. And that you see now in this cholera, and that everyone, our government and the whole... World, all governments, from every religion, they all please stay in your house. But Islam said, it is said in the scripture, and we have to pray there, even if we die. So, of course, there were many problems, this and that, and there were diseases there. But they said no. If we die, we will die. But Allah will say, "That’s it." And if someone will die with us together, they will also come to Allah. I don’t want to say that if there is a fire inside, then you will not sit there and do the prayers. But there is a half. So there are many, also our Punjabis, also the Parsis, all. Unfortunately, there is only one remaining. It’s called the lost, not a bakrī, but bhadī. Ships lost, ships, the Christians, yes, they are now getting lost. But about, at least I will say in my opinion, 15 percent every day will, they will go to the church Sunday. That will at least go more. But even the hour is Monday, but no, Hindus have lost these two. So sun is okay, sun okay, no problem. But it is this that, for the human, it has something. And therefore, we should follow the principle of the fastings. Many, many things, if we see all the tradition, it is great. Definitely, you saw that you will go to the Brahmaloka, but we lost by the moon, and the moon is that, it is very important. And that is, whatever some people are saying something, well, so the moon is coming. And going there, in the Mahābhārata, you are in the Mahābhārata, and there are some very stories also somewhere. Otherwise, the moon was complete, but the moon lost. So come to the dark and again come to the full. There are many, many beautiful stories in the scriptures. So the Guru Dehī, This is the very in the astrologies, and astrology is known as the third eye of our third eyes. There will be two eyes, this and the third eye is this. That shows everything. And what we call Śiva has the third eye, but the third eye is not visible, but that it comes. And it is said today is also the day of the Bhagavad Buddha. Buddha was a king’s son. Sanātana, Hindu religion, etc. So this is the day of the Buddha. The name of the Buddha was not after, they gave the name. His name was Siddhārtha, and the whole time Siddhārtha was doing his sādhanā, everything, but Bodha. What means the Bodha? Bodha... It means knowledge. It means that you don’t have this much knowledge. So, buddhi, from buddhi to bodhi. So, buddhi, which we will tell many, many things. I would say, how many are sitting here in this hall, including myself. We have maybe 3% both, and maybe only 2% both, or 1.5%. Ādiguru Śaṅkarācārya, this one little book, what you call the Aprokṣa Anubhūti, Aprokṣa Anubhūti book, there is a more. Śaṅkarācārya is telling about the Buddha, yes, this Buddha. There is Buddha in that book. So, if that Śaṅkarācārya—and you know how many Śaṅkarācāryas there are—millions of Śaṅkarācāryas now. Everyone who has an orange dress is a Śaṅkarācārya. Both also have Śaṅkarācārya, the cloth. So, Buddha, Bhagavān Buddha, it was Siddhartha, and when after Buddha said in one letter, in one scripture, I learned, I was reading, and he said that because now he’s still, there’s a difference between the Hindus and what he called the Buddha now. Because he did not find it, he lost it. And that he said that I went through my meditation, down, down,... Down to the stones, coal, and vegetation, the water, the animals, the fish, this. Ever so slowly, step by step, I came. So all the stones, coal, metals, the water, the animals in this, the birds, etc., etc., I came to myself, and I went above everything in my cosmic self, and I lost. So it means the Buddha said there is no more any many against. So think there, and that is now only that remains, only Buddha. But in many other countries, they have great respect. And all the students, they are also called, they call them the Bhikṣuk. Because Buddha was going for bhikṣā, and he was in Bihar, and this was the river. Near this river, which is called the place where people go for the ceremonies for the parents, what we call the pitṛ. So if you don’t want to make the whole year’s Pitṛ for your parents, we should go to what is called Gayā. And now, the name of the Buddha, so they call it Bodh Gayā. Bodh Gayā means Buddha also went. This is the name. And so Buddha, Bhagavān Buddha, we all say he had one meditation, and everybody very much is called Udāsī Mauna. Udāsī Mauna and the sādhanā, so when he goes for walking or going for the bikṣā, then everywhere he didn’t want to step on any ant, no animals, not on the fine grass, and he did not break the branch; he went away. Slowly. That’s called Udāsī Mauna. And that has been taken from the religion of the Jain. The Jainers, which they know any dress, and many, many things for what, why not, what not, why not, why not. They have only one little something in the hand from bees or from the Moria, peacock, and this peacock, this they have, so to Jainas, those who don’t have any dress, not at all, shoes also, and only when this is when they sitting like this, so that other, for example, the And if we do it with the hand, we will break her two legs, and she will go there in the hospital under the earth, yes. So what do they do? They make it very nicely, like this, so very fine. Jaina, Jaina is Sanātana. What are... So we Hindus are more, but Jainas are more with... The principle, and so it is also that they, mumana, every morning they are going there, have their room, they have their temple, different kinds of their traditions, and they, everybody, reading some holy book and then going, yes. Yes, but they don’t know. The Christians are doing little. Before going to eat, they will have meditation and prayer for the eating, for going to sleep, and for waking up. Everything they have, but now they say, because of the grandparents’ doing, so they will say, "Okay, grandmother, okay." They lost. So they lost too much in what? In the money, on this material world. So they and the Hindus, they all went to the material very much. But when they have a problem, a little problem, a stomach ache of their little child, then they will say, "Hare Rāma, Hanumānjī, Hanumānjī, Buddha, Lakṣmaṇa, Lakṣmaṇa, Hare Rāma, Lakṣmī, Lakṣmī..." Hare Hare, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, everything, everything. So, there were two friends. One was a Muslim and one was a Hindu. Now they would go, they had to cross the river, and then the monsoon came, so the water rose and there was more water. So both were good friends, one Muslim and one Hindu, and so going and going, water in there, water and water till here, and that Hindu said, "Rām, Rām, Rām, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa,... Rāma comes quickly." Then he said, "Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa." Rām said, "Why should I come, Kṛṣṇa?" You go, he said, "Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa." After a few minutes, Hanumānjī said, "Hanumānjī, Hanumānjī." Kṛṣṇa said, "Why should I go? Go, Hanumān, Hanumān." Hanumān said, "Hanumān, Hanumān, Lakṣmī, Lakṣmī. Why should I go there?" And what happened meanwhile in the water? And die Hari Om. And Muslim man said, "What, Allāh, Allāh..." And Allāh came and brought him out. That is so. What are you doing? When we told you... So today, this Guru Pūrṇimā, day of the Guru Pūrṇimā, and Buddha’s Janma Devte, and I told yesterday, then everybody, can they... one day fasting, you will not die. And if you die, very good, thanks to God, finished, all problems. If for one day you cannot die, I can say to you, you will not die, except that if you have diabetes or something, of course, that is a difference. So, therefore, for whom to go? Or, there is another story, beautiful Gurujī told once. There are two friends. One was Muslim and one was Hindu. And they were going hiking, and they had their rucksack. Because rucksack comes from the German, before not. Yeah, German is what they would look. So both they were good brothers, like friends, brothers. They went up Himalaya, and three days they were, and then they will come again somewhere. "We have the food," so it was only one day’s food. What was there? The chāval, rice. And moong dāl, haldī, salt, a little spices, everything is prepared. Now they made that one tent. So the Muslim has a tent there, and the Hindu has one there. So what happens? The Muslim said, "Friend, it is too little eating, and either your stomach will be full nor mine." So he tried to make a trick. Who? The Muslim, but Hindu is also not so stupid. They are stupid. They are more. So the Muslim said, "We cook our very nice khichḍī, rice, moong, this, this, and we cover it outside." And morning only one will eat. He said, "Yes, what?" He said, "Those who will have the best dream will get it." Okay. Morning, they get up, and Muslim said, "Friend, what was the dream?" So the Hindu said, "Tell the Buddha, tell the Muslim what you had a dream." He said, "Oh, my dream was so Allāh, great." And what was your dream, Mr. Chaudhary? He said, "I had a very bad dream." He said, "I had a good dream, so I will eat. What was your bad dream?" Oh, you cannot imagine, my friend. Not a good dream. What? Because about one o’clock in the night, Hanumānjī came with a goṭā. He said, "Hey, my Bhakta, why do you eat? Why do you sleep hungry?" I talk to you. Come, eat. He said, "No, otherwise I will eat your goṭā." So I ate a little. He said, "No, eat all." So I had to eat all. It was a terrible dream. He said, "Oh my god, that’s it." So they are very tricky people here, you know. Muslims are all tricky. But Hindus, many tricks, I tell you, are sitting. So many here, they have 12-13, mostly Hindus, the police. But not one comes for prayer. That is a good tradition, because they will say, "I am making car," "I am the guarding." So outside they are looking. So this is like, how do you think that you will come to the really to come to God? And so the tradition is not a tradition, but it has to do something with the moon and all, and also with... The sun, and therefore one day, many, many, they make them in Gaṅgā Yamunā, in many cities or there. They are looking to those sun prayers. Similarly, this we cannot do for one day, yes. And the Muslims, do they not even drink one drop of water the whole day until that time when the sun or moon will be in that time? Yes, that is called a very strong. Very strong fighting, and not fighting. This is other things. This is fighting, not because of the religion, not this and that, but this kind of conflicts. And this conflict is this and that is not good. I go to Fiji and many. People, Muslims and Indians, went to Fiji about sixty-eighty percent Indian, and they are between them many Muslims and Hindus, but they don’t know who. So good friendship, very good friendship, no any, so that is what we need. And so the Jainas, the Brahma Munis, the Hare Krishnas, now they came out of certain people because they pray with discipline to God. How are they making pūjā to Kṛṣṇa? My God. It is our whole body. In our body, something is going. We have a nice place here. We have Guru Kṛpā. We have Gurudev’s altar. We have everything. Can we not make a little something? Saṅkalpāha. Saṅkalpaha is therefore Bhagavān. Bhagavān Buddha. He was going. And on it, five houses, and what comes back in his head like grass? And there is one—this tree growing—was that so? First, he gives to some dogs, then there was the water, a little to the fish, then something for the birds, and from the birds and the ants, and then one for the friend or the guest, and one he was eating. Pañca Parameśvaram Bhagavān with Buddha, and then he was making the viśādanā. So now they are not—they did everything wrong. But still, there are in India those who are the bhikṣuk, Buddha’s many, many different lines. The Buddha, he’s in India eating cow meat. Everybody is saying about this and that. Dalai Lama, I was two, three times with Dalai Lama, and I was in Zagreb. There was a Zagreb nice program, and I was in my hotel, up and down was his, and after the program I said, "Come with me, and we will eat nice food," and like this. And he said, "No, no, I will eat." He came from the conference, then went to the restaurant, was eating cow beef, sitting there. Buddha, oh my, said, "Oh, Buddha." Anyhow, therefore, saṅkalpa, Gurudev śaṅkalpa dete hai. Gurudev kuśmī nahī dete hai. Saṅkalpa dete hai. Aur wo saṅkalpa hī, Wo aage badegā. Or, if you have lost your resolve, like the deer in the forest or the Neil guy, all this just running up, and many accident cars on the road because of lost resolve. So, this side is the resolve, and the Buddha’s side was the wisdom of enlightenment, that’s it. If you cannot hold that, I also drink water all the time, therefore I have said you should drink also. The alcoholic person is always busy: "Come, come, take a little, take a little..." Take little, but saṅkalpa. He is a saṅkalpa anuṣṭhān, and that anuṣṭhān is that our path, and saṅkalpa is our guide, and mantra is Gurudev’s. So, is that how we are living? And that, I will say, have a little chocolate or something, okay, a little fruit. But you can say that I will do it after. Some are there who did do. So therefore, Śaṅkarācārya is writing about Bodha, and Bodha is that knowledge, and that intellect will come inside us. If we have intellect, then everything is there. And if we don’t have intellect, then we are a buffalo or a donkey or whatever. Intellect is intellect, isn’t it? So God has given intellect, intellect in the brain, in the human brain. Elephant. Elephant’s memory is very long. He will never forget you. I was in Africa, and there in that ashram, I said, "We go to wild safari." And that is about seventy hundred thousand square meters of land, very, from Sojot Road till the Shiroi, near the Shiroi, and there to very far to Jodhpur. And so very, very, very big. And there are lions, there are tigers, there are all other animals, there are many elephants, there are deer, there are giraffes, and so on. And there is one between, like, half of our home ashram. And there are very nice huts, very good. And outside, there are the electric wires. And if that electric wire touches, the elephant is also, psst, bird’s eye. So they know they can’t come. And so I had my house: one sleeping room, sitting room, kitchen, bathrooms, saunas, sitting outside, looking there, and there are others, and so. And there’s a pond like this, and they are filling the water. Elephants come, and this was very interesting. So the elephant was swimming, and then a very big male elephant was near, but between there and there were these electric wires. And I came from my room and I saw the elephant. And so I told the Mansa Devī, please bring me one apple. So, we, and the elephant was looking like this. And what I did, I threw him the apple. He turned and looked at me. He had two steps towards me. I said, "Let’s go." So we went and we were drinking coffee in his coffee area. I came back again. All the time, his trunk was like this. And looking, I said, "Avancā Devī, I have to change my room today." In the night, he will definitely come, and till morning he did not come. Remained there. Why did I throw the stone at him? It was an apple, so I changed myself to the other side. They said, "Don’t worry, it will not come." But I said, "I will not go tomorrow because that elephant will definitely run behind me." So animals have also, and they were very happy, they were very good. So the animals also have that discipline, this, that. So, it is like this, saṅkalpaha, saṅkalpahī, saṅkalpahī, you had saṅkalpah very well born, yes, and everybody give in saṅkalpah and their religions, everywhere, so that saṅkalpaha, choṭī, and now nobody have choṭī, if they are choṭī, they are nothing, they are lost. Then lost, then they are all getting beaten up. They are getting beaten up here and there. This happens. So, therefore, the bhajan, what it is said: "Sā janavāle lāge sadāhī satsaṅg, sā janavāle lāge sadāhī satsaṅg." Every day, Gurudev, satsaṅg is more sweet to me. That’s because this is to God. So anyone who is praying in their religion, day in their heart, that’s it. So every day one should have this. Sādhanā vālī lageśa sadā satsaṅg. Every day should go to the satsaṅg, not kuṣaṅg. Kuṣāṅga nahī, Kuṣaṅga will destroy you and will make you again into the animal’s life. You will become the animal. So this is the other way. They are writing English wrong. Now it is what it is. Charo, but there is no charo. It is chi, charo khao. Thank you. So, therefore, this bhajan what she was singing was very good. Thank you, and I will take it to you. So now, I think that Avatār Purī wants to speak something. Give him the mic. Behind Puṣpā, no, no, here, yeah, okay. So, as Viśvagurujī was just mentioning before, In the beginning of the satsaṅg, that today is Guru Pūrṇimā, Buddha Pūrṇimā. So last night I was thinking that I should write something to devote to Viśvagurujī. So this morning I made a Sanskrit prayer on my feelings towards Viśvagurujī. So I will first sing it once, and then I will go paragraph by paragraph with the English translation. Jaya Deva, Jaya Deva, Jaya Viśwa Gurujī, Śrī Viśwa Gurujī, Śrī Maheśwarānanda Guru Sarvabhāuma, Jaya Deva, Jaya Deva. Yad yad sakalam parasme Nārāyaṇe tethi samarpayāme.
