Do Good

A global crisis has forced introspection, revealing our fragility and the superficiality of modern pursuits. Many sought distraction, but in India, cultural broadcasts reawakened spiritual knowledge. This period serves as a divine lesson to slow down and seek inner truth. The current proliferation of hastily certified yoga teachers reflects a profound misunderstanding of the path. True discipleship requires decades of humility, not a certificate claiming mastery. Spiritual attainment is not a diploma received in life. Liberation is decided at the final moment, beyond simplistic judgments of good and bad karma. The ego that proclaims itself a guru is an imitation, like a trained monkey. The real Guru is the supreme reality itself. Seek that within.

"God said, 'Relax.'"

"Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Devo Maheśvara."

In this way, many people in the world are depressed or angry. Many say, "I don’t want to stay in one house; I will go, no matter what happens." Suddenly, many decided they would not stay home. Now, in certain countries, this disease has returned. Infections are coming again. I have heard even our Czech government say that everyone must again, this time... and you are doing very much, of course. This year feels like it is coming close to a bad time—Kālāvatāra, the kāla. This kāla is not good. We are fighting against it, and we will win. But we must follow discipline—for your children, your parents, your grandparents, your friends, your neighbors. We wish for all to be healthy and happy, and there are many things we can make better. India is a very big country. How many languages? Thirty-five languages, and about 6,000 dialects. Every 50 to 80 kilometers, the language changes. Now, what happened when this 'crown' (corona) came? It was so terrible that every government tried to keep people at home. Some fell into complete depression. Many stopped talking to each other. People did not know what to do. We are in a time when we are used to being happy, going out, dancing, and suddenly we were blocked. It was not easy for humans. If you put animals in one farm only, they become very unhappy. So what did we do in India? Our Prime Minister Modījī wanted to make everyone happy and give them something good to forget the negative things. First, they broadcast a beautiful video about God Rāma. You remember we once played the story of God Rāma here. Then came the Mahābhārata, then Kṛṣṇa, and many other great saints. The best films were shown on many television channels. In those two or three months, people learned. They understood what my culture is. They didn't know before. You know, every 20 or 25 years, we forget. Now these people learned: "Oh, that was God Rāma, that was Sītā, his brother Lakṣmaṇa," and also Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. What was happening? What was this Mahābhārata? Through many holy books and spiritual things, people suddenly awoke. We did not know what God is. Sometimes it is good if we are running and running and don't care about anything because you are just going, running. Then God says, "I must give him some knowledge." A man was going quickly, quickly to his office. God said, "I gave him a lesson." What was the lesson? He fell down while crossing the road quickly. Cars were coming from both sides, but luckily they swerved. The person fell, broke his leg, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. The doctor said, "Why didn’t you go home earlier? Why were you rushing to your office?" The man said, "Don’t talk to me. I will never do that again." Sometimes God gives us something to make us remain calm and peaceful. It is said that God says, "Relax." That’s why this experience always says, "Yes, Swāmījī, that’s really good." In this context, what our tradition says to us, I would like to share today: Yogī Janakī Yoga Nidrā... Go ahead. Many people in the world are now talking about Yoga Nidrā. So many yoga teachers have appeared. And you know what kind of yoga teachers? They go for one month or three weeks, and they become yoga teachers. They are given a certificate, and now they are masters, they are gurus, sitting like this, but they don’t know anything. This situation is not good. Who is teaching them? Making a yogī in only three weeks? Some go to India on what we call a tour for about one week to see good places, go to the beach, have a nice time in a cottage, swimming, eating, and receive one or two hours of yoga teaching over two weeks before getting a certificate. So the yogīs and the students, they both are zero. But someone said, "Please, Swāmījī, don’t give the zero, because you know zero is very powerful. After nine, without zero, you cannot go further. So please, give us zero." So they gave them another number, one or one and a half. You see, we have our Swāmī Viveka Purī. Do you know how many years he has known me? Thirty-eight years. And now he has learned to become a yogī, and so he has now got a little chair. Thirty-eight years, by 30 years and 30 days. Therefore, you are all my great, great, great students, my disciples. And I am proud of that. They are not saying, "I am now a master, I am a teacher." No. Even I do not say that myself. My Gurujī may tell something, or you may think something, but I would not say I am a great master. I have never said it, and you should not say it. It is said: "God, I will give you the Brahmalokas, but in the last seconds, the last minute of your life, then I will give you the diploma." So I said, "Why, Gurujī? Let me enjoy the title of Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara or Mahārāja or whatever, and the state of Brahmaloka now." And the real guru said, "No." Then he said, "I will go to other gurus." That Gurujī gave him three weeks, many kriyās, and so on. It is said that because we are human, and we humans are very happy and good, and we try to be the best, but God said we are human, and we don’t know in which second we can make a mistake. Then it is lost. So why then that kind of pad? Pad means the place; the diploma is not there. What kind of diploma for Brahmaloka? Not here. Therefore, when you will go to samādhi, when you will give up your body, when people will say, "Now he has died," that time your path will be decided—toward mokṣa. And mokṣa means that we are neither negative nor positive. If everything is very good—I’m not talking about this corona—negative is not good, nor is positive necessarily good. But otherwise, what we call the quality, that we have to learn. So now we are both positive. We are very good people. Everything is fine, but suddenly we make a mistake. Then it is gone. Or, if you have only the best and the best, and then we all come to God and say, "God, I have not one dark spot in my dress, my God. I am as I am." God said, "It is very good. So, what can I do for you, God?" "Now I will send you back again." "Why, Gurudev?" "Yes, because you have so much, only the best and the best. Now you are proud." "No, I’m not proud." "Even so, you are different. Please, now give all your good qualities and all good karmas. Give them to all creatures, not only humans. Give to all good creatures, and take care that nothing makes a mistake." Then after, God will call him, "Did you get some negatives?" "Gurudev, I don’t know, but I think I didn’t do anything." "As you like, Bhagavān, Gurudev, Brahmā. I send you now to Brahmaloka, but you are becoming like the sky. From that, you have to still come down. Without the body, after these five elements, then you come to know that you are in everyone’s heart, and that heart you are. So there is no earth, no second, no third; all is in oneness." Or, you go and you have only negative things. Then God, or the Guru, said, "Where do you want to go?" "I want to go to Mokṣa." "Yes, my disciple, my boy." "My boy? Yes." "I am here to give you Brahmaloka." "Oh, Gurudeva, very nice. You know, I made so many stupid things, and nothing was good. But such a God or Gurudeva I never saw anymore. Though I did so many mistakes, you said you would give me mokṣa." He said, "Yes." "So what can I do, Gurudev?" "I told you, nothing to do." Another one said, "I did only good and good and good," and he sent me back. And this one, who did wrong, goes into mokṣa. So, Gurudev, you are great, but you will go to mokṣa, yes, Gurujī? Do you follow me? Of course. Then go down and give up all your negative things. Give all to those negative people back, because you do not take that with you. So, when you will give everything back, then I will bring you to mokṣa. So that is both sides. If we do only good, then we again go to the karmas. If we do negative, not good things, we go again. So sitting there, Bhagavān, God... So he said, "Which side do you go? We cannot understand God." "Where should I go?" He said, "You don’t understand. Therefore, I will give you something." "And how is that? I will be, oh my Lord, Bhagavān." "I can’t give you anywhere, not in Brahmalokas and not in the Naraka Loka." God said, "My dear disciple, there is no place for you." "I have worked hard in both ways. When I do good, that’s not enough. If I do bad, also not good, and now I’m nowhere. So where is that Brahmaloka?" He said it is there. "Then please send us there." "There is nowhere to send. Gurudev, so you left us somewhere only, neither here nor there." God said, "I give you my heart. There is nothing more than in my heart," the Supreme God said. "The whole universe is within me. And now you are everywhere, and you are nowhere. You are forever and ever in the best part." And so it is that we should do good, all the time, good. But God, when I, how to do good? I gave you everything. God said no. You did good, good... You became, when you reached my person, a lot of, a lot of money. So, but I said, "I did good." You only need God. Good, good, good. And that is a very heavy, heavy power on you. So what to do? Give it. You have good things, give them. That is that. And bad things? He also said, "Give all to the good things, to the bad one." So we have to separate both, be very pure, clean—that’s it. Then, say, how do I know that I am in Brahmaloka? "Oh, my disciple, you are already in Brahmaloka. In your heart is Brahmaloka. All is in you. Be with that, and all your five elements—let’s melt them. Let’s melt them. So, our body and our energy, our mind, our knowledge, and our beautiful energy and feelings—this all is melting. All is melted. Where are you, my dear? Who is melting? So, who was, and from where has it come? So, from where do we come? Where are we, and where will we go, my dear? That is a yogī, that’s a yoga practice, and that we have to go through yoga only—not by torturing the body left and right, up and down." You know, sometimes people in India or other countries have a monkey. They get a monkey and keep it with them all the time, giving it good food. When it is cold, they give it a dress. If it needs medicine, they give it. Very nice. But they give it training. And so this monkey, they are training. And then, so it is said, monkey... and making dum-dum-dum... Said monkey, and he said, "Master said, ’My dear monkey, here among these people, there is one newly married girl.’ Oh, nice dress, and this and that, just married. So she said, ’Can you say how that girl, or the newly married, how she’s walking?’ And she’s going to... Oh, thank you, very good. And how is she making chapatis? She’s sitting and making like this and... Oh, you are a very good married woman. Ah, you are very happily married. And how is your grandmother? Babička. And said, ’How is your grandmother?’ And she said, ’Eh, eh.’ And when she’s coming to you near, what are you, the married woman? How did she say?’ And she said, when the grandmother is looking the other side, and what she’s making, she said, ’So that is a monkey.’ How do you dance, monkey? How are you making yoga? Make the Śīrṣāsana, everything, but this is monkey." So we are almost... they are only making yoga like a monkey. So we have to be that one, like Brahman, Bhagavān, God, who said. So it is said: "Guru Brahma," the Guru is that Brahmā. "Guru Vishnu," and Gurudev is Viṣṇu. "Gurudevo Maheśvara," and Gurudev is Śiva. And after it is said: "Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Devo Maheśvara, Guru Sākṣāt Para-Brahma, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ." So all these three are the highest, the supreme: Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Devo Maheśvara. So where should we meditate so that we get all these three? "Dhyāna mūlaṁ guru mūrti, pūjā mūlaṁ guru padam." The root of meditation is the form of the Guru; the root of worship is the feet of the Guru. "Dhyāna mūlaṁ guru-mūrti, pūjā mūlaṁ guru-padam." And what is second? "Guru śakṣāt para-brahma." So, śakṣāt, the real is Gurudev, para-brahma, the supreme, the highest. But we are not that guru. We only said, "I am the guru now." Big hair, or hair is taken. White dress, black dress, green dress, orange dress, and no dress, only langote, only little, little, let’s say underwear. And somewhere they said no, digambara, it’s called digambara. And digambara means completely naked. "I give up everything, but still you are not that God." We are longing, and we are longing for such a guru like Ālak Purījī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, Holy Gurujī. So when I do my mantra, when I sleep, my heart is beating because I know that at the last time of my life, then I will be relaxed. Though my Gurudev has given me everything and many things. But when Gurudev gave me, I said, "You gave me heaviness." I had nothing, but my Gurudev gave me so much. And then Gurujī gave it to my hands, and Gurujī said, "Put it on your head," and I’m going. What is that? The whole weight Gurujī gave on my head. Guruji, when I will give back this heaviness on the last breath, then you will say, "I will tell Guruji now, I am without this heaviness." So many, they said, "I am Guru, I am best, I am..." You are not. So there’s even a poem, very nice. So, how many? It is in... Next time I will say. I’ve forgotten. After how many thousands, maybe one guru is there. In all Kumbhela, they ever say that we are the gurus. But that kind of guru is also there. Where we can find, yes, this is that. So that’s what I try to give you. My heaven is, I want to give you, but please don’t throw it away somewhere. Don’t throw it in the garbage. Let it be in your heart, and that is what is the teaching of our paramparā. Many went to the Himalayas with Alakpurījī, and you know what you have heard. In many of Mahāprabhujī’s bhajans, Maṅgīlālji’s bhajans, and Brahmanandjī’s bhajans, Alakpurījī’s name is there, but many people forget and say, "I don’t know." You are, my dear. Take time. It is not easy. It is said that we go about 100 meters distance with one rope. And that rope is above the water or rock. And how will you, while dancing, speaking to everybody, and walking on the rope? But we all, we will not have a rope. But we have a nice wall, and this wall is about one meter or one foot—you know what is a foot? And now we have to walk a hundred meters, and down are the rocks, and this and that. Who will be going through? Without only looking at this, we will say Hari Om. So it is said we are walking on the knife. Yes, this, if you can walk on a very sharp knife, cut of the knife. So, all we are like that. We are falling down, we cannot even stand on it, but it is said, Gurudev, you will give me all. Something is there, so we will come. And we say to God, "We are as we are." So there is one bhajan, very nice, Guru, Dev, what is that? What is that bhajan? Yes, so in that, I would say always here no one is there, and don’t try to think that I will be there. That’s it. So we are all one, and I hope that you will come first. To the supreme, I will be the last one.
