Seeing God

The divine atmosphere and the cycle of life are present here. We begin by honoring the Guru Paramparā and receiving blessings. This environment is heaven; the Earth is our Mother and the water our Father. Indra brings rain for all creatures. We are born from and return to the Earth, yet humans poison her. Life is sustained by five elements. The process of creation involves these elements and the principle of jīva-jīva-bhakṣate, where life consumes life. Animals follow this nature, but humans developed further. The ultimate teaching is ahiṁsā paramo dharma: non-violence is the highest duty. We must respect all life.

"Life eats the life. The animal eats the animals."

"Ahimsa paramo dharma. Ahimsa means do not kill."

Hari Om, how are you? Welcome. Who has come now, today? Okay, who is here for the first time? One person for the first time? Okay, so the rest are coming from different places, yes? Well, first of all, I welcome you all and give the blessing of Mahāprabhujī. This program will be very beautiful for you. We have begun this year with sādhanā for two months, with many, many bhaktas from across Europe and other countries. I was about seven months outside of Europe, and now I have been here for two months, so nearly ten months. It is beautiful here in our ashram, and everyone has enjoyed it a lot. In this, what we always do first is make praṇām to our Gurudev. Our praṇām to Holīgurujīm, Mahāprabhujīm, Devpurījīm, Alakpurījīm, Brahmananjīm, Śivananjīm, Brahmananjīm, etc.—all our paramparā, and I am with you. So first, we make praṇām and ask for the blessing from Gurudeva. We know this blessing, and we are asking for it. How we are doing, we know all. We will now begin today's new program, and before this, we receive blessing from our Guru Paramparā. This is what we will chant now. It is the glory to Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī and other gurus, and we all together are your devotees. That means we are together—our Gurudev and we, all brothers and sisters. It is the one day's. So this is like that; many of you know it very well. Oṁ Namah Śrī Prabhu Dīpanārāya Haṁsabhadas Prabhusaraṇ Parāyaṇam Yom Namah Śrī Prabhu Dīpanārāyaṇam Haṁsabhadas Prabhusaraṇ Parāyaṇam Haṁsabhadas Prabhusaraṇ Parāyaṇam Haṁsabhadas Prabhu Saraṇ Parāyaṇam Oṁ Namah Śrī Dīpanārāyaṇam Oṁ Namah Śrī Prabhu Dīpanarayanam. Oṁ Sab Das Prabhu Saran Parayanam. Oṁ Namoh Śrī Prabhu Dīp Narayanam. Śrī Dīp Narayan Bhagwan Ki. Oṁ Namah Śrī Prabhu Dīp Narayanam. Our Gurudev, our Bhagavān Mahāprabhujī. We adore the Omay Gurudev Mahāprabhujī and Viṣṇu, Bhagavān Viṣṇu, and now it means with one name we all know. And we all, haṁsabha, haṁsabha, we all, "Oṁ namo śrī prabhu," and to thee, O Mahāprabhujī, śaraṇa parāyaṇam—we came to thee at your holy feet, and we are asking you to give us your blessing. Oṁ namo—we know "nama" is "bow down." Oṁ namo śrī prabhu. Dīpa nārāyaṇaṁ haṁ sabdhās prabhu śaraṇaparāyaṇaṁ. So this, we shall always, in anything we do, come to the divine place. This is a... just look at this atmosphere in this park. Look at all the trees, the beautiful sky, the very nice green basket. This is the first time I see all the greenery here. From time to time, Indra, Bhagavān Indra, gives us rain. Indra is from the heaven, and he is giving this rain. Indra tells our oceans, "Please bring the water to the people, because you are too far." In some places, how to get the water? And so, where is the ocean? In some countries, where is it? How many kilometers? One hundred to two hundred kilometers. Like in the center of Australia, the ocean is very far, but water is coming here. Who is bringing this water? Indra. Indra is the god of the water, the god of taking all protection, and so he is coming. When the water comes, and there is lightning and sounds, that all is coming upon this earth—not only for humans, but for each and every entity, including the grass, all. That is Indra. So we are also very often praying to Indra. And Indra, he has in his hand the strong iron. Indra has in his hand iron, so very strong. Every creature is so happy when the cloud is coming. Don’t think that only we say, "Oh, clouds come, and good rain is coming," no. It is for all. In that atmosphere where you are here now, that is called the heaven. Life. This is the life. There are many, many planets. We talk about many things about that. We go to some satellite, we look at everything, but our Earth—this is not what we call the, like these other planets. We should not say planet Earth. This is Mother, Mother the Father. So first is called Mother, and Mother is the Earth. We came from the Earth, and we will go with the Earth. It is our Mother that we call, mostly, the Earth we call Mother. And what do we call that? Mother Earth. Yes, Mother Earth. And the father is that water, that purity, that cleanliness, everything. And so, Indra is the father and Earth is the mother. So everything is purity, everything is with the Mother. We were born here, we live here, and we will go here again. So understand, we should understand this Earth, and this Mother Earth—all these trees, all grass, and also other creatures on this Earth—it is the Mother. If we respect Mother, and if we know what my mother is, then we will all be very happy. But we humans are now giving poison to our mother. What we are eating is a lot of poison now, only humans. But still, Mother, she takes care. She will not tell us anything bad, but how long will this Mother live here? So my dears, this is here, all five elements here. And that gives us life. When we were born, we were very, very clean, pure, etc. And now, after that, what we are doing, many things, is not good. The result comes. Mother Earth tries very hard to give the purification to her children, but how long? Sometimes a mother is tired. You will see in this Mahābhārata—and three times, I think, Mahābhārata, two here and one there—and there already Mother Earth said how the mothers are suffering. The kings did not understand, and they did not feel that the mother is suffering. They are only thinking about their power and this and fighting. This part I am telling, not because of the Mahābhārata. And I am not talking about it because it is in the Mahābhārata, but it is everywhere. You know how many wars were here, and who was mostly the men. But still, mothers forgive, so at least now, in this place where we are, you should think that I am at the mother’s lap. Everything we have is peaceful, everything. And now, we are going to practice something to understand. This exercise means that we try to comprehend more, to understand more. And what does it mean to understand? Pak jsou ty práṇy, je tady jīva. And after that, what do we say? That prāṇa or soul. That is not like that. So that jīva ātmā is also, let’s say, the father, the god, and the mother. In this sādhanā we will do, and it’s very simple and good. We have here five different kinds of practice. And the first is, some of our parents are these children. So we have little children. This is the first class here. Let them feel the good air here. We have very nice children playing, and everyone loves them. And children, children are feeling each other together. And we take care of the children. This is the first training. And we were children also, and one day we will be like a little child. But this is a little different body. After this, in the Bhagavad Gītā, it is called karma. So yoga karmasu kauśalam. Yoga karmasu kauśalam. Yoga sādhanā. Sādhanā means the purifications and to get perfection. And that perfection of the karma, what is the karma? We all say karma, karma,... and definitely we have the karma. There are many, many karmas. Through the karma, we will be at the end of that cosmic light. In this, every creature is also doing karma. Their karma is different, but it is a jīva-jīva-bhakṣate. Jīva-jīva-bhakṣate: the life eats the life. And that is why every animal, one creature, eats the others. The big animal eats the little one. So, jīva-jīva-bhakṣate, bhakṣate means eating. Because it is said, 8.4 million creatures. It means that, for example, one animal may be a billionth, but it is the same, the ants. So, how are they? So, like this, like 8.4 million different creatures. And now, what is that? That jīva-bhākṣate, so the animal eats the animals. They don’t know; they have no feeling that they should not kill someone. So every animal eats everyone. So when the creation began—it’s a long story which we will tell sometimes—that is, what God, what we did not see anyhow, may you have seen that God, not here in the sky, from the sky to here on the earth. You also were flying in an aeroplane. And 52 years now, I’m constantly flying in the skies. Sometimes I’m thinking, please, pilot, can you go a little higher up? I want to see where God is. So, the pilot said once, "Swamijī, you are the god in this airplane." And we are all inside. Don’t you see that? Further, you can tell us. I said, "I don’t know." So, that jīva beyond, may there be, may there not be. But we humans, all, more or less, we feel as a God. Many people cannot believe, but mostly we are worshipping or believing, "Oh, my God." There are many people who don’t say, "Oh, God." But when something happens, an accident or something, oh my God. Like Mahatma Gandhi, he was talking about everything, but you know, when they shot Gandhi, his prāṇa was going, and he said only, "Bhagavān Rām," so when he fell down, and where he was, it is that his body, and there is... Only one Hiram was written, and many, many from many governments, from different countries, they came to give respect to Gandhi. So at the end, last we say, "Hey Rām! Hey God!" And here they get my Jesus. We say God, we say Jesus, Maria. Jesus, Maria, we say Jesus, Maria. So Maria, not Jesus, not only Jesus but also Maria, yes. And then after Jesus, and then, so, okay, anyhow, Muslims say Allah, that’s it. But we have something so even one doesn’t believe in God, anyhow, but on certain time, he will say, "Oh, God," you know that in the God Rāma and Rāmaṇa, and that Rāvaṇa was all the time saying only "Rām" and "Rām" and this and that, but the last minute... He said, "Hey Rām," so we will sooner or later, a human will say one word of God. Therefore, it is a jīva-jīva-bhakṣate. The animal eats the animals. Then how will it go? So, there it is said, there was a parliament. The Parliament of the Cosmic, we shall make a creation. First was that Śiva. There was nothing. Then, only five principles. Now first is the Prakāś, and that Prakāś, the light, so Holy Gurujī said, because some said, people said to Holy Gurujī, "Your Gurujī is Mahāprabhujī here in Kathu, in Balaguda, and Madhavananjithi, you are only in some India," but Holy Gurujī said, You did not understand. Holī Gurujī’s prakāśa, Holī Gurujī’s knowledge. The body is a body. We will learn the body. One day we will eat ice cream. Tomorrow we will eat fruit. Another day we will do nothing. Like this, but what is inside that body? So it is said, when someone gives you a banana, nobody will say, "Why did you give me a banana?" But we are happy we get the banana, and we peel the banana that is inside the fruit. And we can give this out. So inside, therefore, don’t look at this. And so, Holī Gurujī gives a beautiful, beautiful answer, and that is why Holī Gurujī gives a beautiful answer. God bless you. Blessing again in our puja plate. This was going there, and I was looking, and I was looking, and really it came to our... thank you. This was the prasāda for us all, divine. So, it is very, very... was first only the Śiva, and Śiva was not like... This body, like this, but comes slowly, slowly, and through this, all elements, Ākāśa, Ākāśa... After the Ākāśa, Prakāśa. Prakāśa means the light, fire, and after that, the air, and that what we call the water and earth. All these five elements, and that what has been now on this our earth, round and round, everywhere. So, for example, water is very heavy, and water is down, but it is said that Indra brought this water above into the air, and it goes from where to there. So this is a māyā. Māyā means these things. What we cannot understand, and so it is said, "Jīv jīv bakṣate," life eats the life. Before, it is said that we create and come, but there are only stones. There is life in the stone too, but what will it do? They will do nothing, but we have to continue further. So it is said, we shall do something, so tell Viśvakarmā, also God, Viśvakarmā, and Viśvakarmā is greeting now this whole our earth, and there he said, So they say, but what will you do? Why are you doing it? Then I will give them to eat. But why do they want to eat, and from where should they eat? Said, "I will create hunger." And what is with the hunger for a stone to do nothing? The rock doesn’t matter? So, hunger. So, hunger, but what to eat? And how will you eat, and where is the hunger? Then he said, "In your stomach, there will be burning. What is that? Something you want to have inside, but what? And how?" Etc. So that first, but what to give? And what will they eat? Then he said, "Each other, they will eat." Bhakṣu, eating, eating. What will they eat? Jīv, jīv bhakṣati. Life will eat life. Well, the cosmic prime minister, they said, "Yes, we are further." We are further. So when they all will eat, then what will remain? Therefore, again it is said, it will be the desire. Oh, that is a creation, and therefore, you know, we should have the children, and that’s why. And how have the children been created? Not only telling about their male and female, but there is inside, in the whole being of our inner organs, but not only the organs. All elements in the body. I see, so they will, everybody will kill each other, but they will also create each other. But then, what will be the further? We are only rolling here. We want to go up. Then give the human, one human. It doesn’t matter where you are. And it is said in Tibet, the first human, once in a magazine, was a scientist. There was a human being, animals not humans, and that was Śiva. So it goes further and further. But of course, they did not know yet. They are eating each other also. Yes, they will eat, and therefore it was the time the humans were eating humans. It was the forest. Many different creatures. So the humans were hiding, and they are also killing others. Slowly, slowly, developing this knowledge and that mother and father. This is a long, long, long... We are very highly developed now. Our brain is bigger now, otherwise very little, like a monkey, so it is, I don’t know, but I am telling what have been many saints, sādhus giving lectures, that time I am also listening. Holy Gurujīs many times make the bhajans and everything. And so it is said that humans should not kill humans, and humans should not kill other animals. Jīv, jīv, bhakṣate. Animals eat animals, but humans should not eat animals, anything. But before, we know they were killing all animals. Then, ahimsā, ahimsā... Parmudharma, and this word, who said this word from the Mahābhārata? And who? Bhīṣma said when he was lying on the arrows, then the Pāṇḍava came all and said. Grand, grand, grand parents, father, uncle, we have done this now. What can we do? What has all happened here? Then he said. This word, he said: dharma, dharma. Ahimsa paramo dharma, ahimsa paramo dharma. Ahimsa means do not kill, don’t take them away, don’t torture them. Only be humble. I knew, he said, but now I understood. So dharmaḥ dharma rakṣata, that’s it. So similarly, the human, we developed a lot, but now we have turned into the other direction. We had a nice road, but then we turned into the forest, and just we are killing everyone, but still, there are some more, so this is how we come there. Further, we will continue, but this was what Holī Gurujī Mahāprabhujī Dev Purījī could do: he could go through the rock, and now they make the tunnel, maybe. They took from Devpurījī, or he could walk in the air; he can ride his horse in the space. Devapurījī is Devapurījī.
