Sri SatGuru Chalisa

The Satguru Chalīsā is a sacred text for meditation and crossing worldly existence. We worship the all-pervasive creator, the supreme incarnation. Without this grace, no one crosses the ocean of worldly life. All sages meditate upon this presence. Spiritual knowledge is given to the heart, resulting in fearlessness and the end of problems. Reading or listening to the Chalīsā brings concentration, ends the fear of birth and death, and grants prosperity and fulfillment. Life becomes perfect and suffering departs. The verses describe the merciful protector who uplifts all beings. Those who gain this vision are supremely fortunate and their wishes succeed. The guru is eternal and unequaled. Approaching the guru cleanses eons of misdeeds. The blessing itself is everything.

"Without Your mercy, no one can cross the ocean of worldly existence."

"Those who will have a darśan of you, Gurudev, they will be the greatest, and they will all the time have concentration and feeling for God."

Our subject is the Ātāśrī Satguru Chalīsā. First, there is the introductory poem, and then the discourse on the Satguru Chalīsā. OM NAMO ŚRĪ GURU DEVA JĪ SABKHA SARJANHĀRA VYĀPAKA ANTARA BĀHARAME PARA BRAHMA KARTĀRA. I was translating already, but I will say again. We worship and pray to thee, O Gurudev—Satguru Devjī, Devpurījī. O Satguru Devjī, Devpurījī. Sabka sarjan har, you are the creator for everyone. Vyāpak antar bahar me, you are pervasive, outside and inside. Par Brahm avatāra, you are the Par Brahm avatāra. You are the Lord God of the gods. Therefore, again and again, I bow to Thee and repeat Thy mantra, Your name. Without Your mercy, nahī bhava pāra—no one can cross the ocean of worldly existence. The ṛṣis, the munis, and the sādhus of Śāntajana, jabhe tumhāra jāb, they all are meditating on you. Ātmā, ātmā, dhyāna—the knowledge in our heart has been given to our heart. Nirvaya hogaya ap, and you are in our heart, within us. This is very great. Ātmā jñāna ghaṭa pāyā kar, nirvaya ho gayā ap. Therefore, with ātmā jñāna, the spiritual knowledge, in the heart, all within us, we have nirvaya—we have no problems, we don’t have any fear, anything. We have no fear and no problems. And Gurudev, you have given us this. The Sadguru Chalīsā—those who will read this Sadguru Chalīsā... Sadguru Chalīsā is the name of the Gurudev’s holy words, what he has written. These are the holy words that Gurudev has written, like the Hanumanjī Chalīsā, and this is the Satguru Chalīsā. Those who will read the Satguru Chalīsā, Urguru Dhyāna Lagai—they shall concentrate, meditate, and chant His name. Meditate and sing His name. Who will read this Satguru Chalīsā? They will meditate with concentration. Janam maran bhavad dukha mithi. Janam, the life, being born. Maran, death. Bhav, there is no more fear to come back. So Janam and Maran are gone. Duk mit jay—no more problems will be there. Kāl kabu nejāj, kāl. Yama kabu nejāj—no, it will not come. No one will come when you die and go. No negativity will come. When you die, nothing negative will prevent you from walking. Those who will listen to the Sadguru Chalīsā with their ears... Riddhi, siddhi, sukha. Riddhi, siddhi, prosperities, happiness, and the glories. And whatever you wish, you will get it. That’s very nice. Whatever we want, by reading the Sadguru Chalīsā, it will come for you all. All will be good. Janam safal ho jay. In this life, our life will be perfect. Suffering will be forever gone. And so these are the four, five points. This is what we call the poem. Then comes the Chopai, which is about 24 verses. Om Namo Gurudev Dayālā. Om Namo Gurudev Dayāla. O Gurudev, I bow down to thee. You are the merciful one. Bhakt Janakī ho prativala. You are, for all bhaktas, you are the protector of all bhaktas. Par upakāra karo avatāra, and therefore upon all of us, upakāra we are doing for that. A proto mi vśikni se pāṇī. Dharo avatāra for that, O Gurudev, you are incarnating. Dubat jagme hans ubhara—that these hands means all they are in the ocean and that they come above, they will not go down. Tera darśan kade brabhagī O Gurudev, They are great. They are those who can see the Gurudev. O Gurudev! Darśan, terā darśan Gurudev. Jinki lagan hari se lagi, and that person will have the concentration more on God. Man vañcit kārejī sarī. So what you wish, it will come successful. And whatever you wish for, you will have success in it. Life will be good, and your life will be good. Om Namo Gurudev Dayāla, Bhakt Janakī Ho Pratipāla, Parupakāra Dharo Avatāra, Dubat Jagme Hansubhāra. Tera Darśan Kare Badbhāgī. So, O Gurudev, those who will have a darśan of you, Gurudev, they will be the greatest, and they will all the time have concentration and feeling for God. Nam jahāj terā sukhdāī—therefore the boat which will cross us in the ocean very comfortably. Dhare jīva pārho jāyī—any creatures will sit in the boat of the Gurudeva, they all will come further. Par Brahmā Guru ke Avināśī. Par Brahma. That Par Brahma, Bhagavān Brahmā. A je to Bhagavān Parabrahma. Guru he Avināśī. Gurudev is Avināśī. Avināśī means he does not die. And he is a Gurudev. Shubha means pure, clear. In our mind, we should not have negative thinking. Don’t think somebody will do this or that. Then it means that we have the milk and put a little lemon, and all is boiled. It means that we have the milk, and we have added lemon drops to it, and everything is destroyed. Śuddha means pure. Śavarūpa, that form, our body, sādhanā, sukha, rāśi, all and all will be happy. Guru Śivaṁ data koī nahīṁ. There is no one other than Gurudev. There is no one like Gurudev. Raja, Bahatsa, Asghar—even the king and Bahatsas, they are all asking for the Gurudeva. Guru Sanamukha, jab jīva ho jāve—who comes in the front of the Gurudeva, any creature, také lidé, Guru Sanamukha, jab jīva ho jāve, koṭi kalpa ke pāpa nasāve—and from thousands and thousands of years or birth and birth, this will be again, all will be cleaned. Jiska, jispar guru kṛpā hoī—on that Gurudev’s kṛpā, blessing will be. And this is the Guru-deva’s blessing. Those who receive Guru-deva’s blessing no longer need his; he has everything. Prabhu Saran Parayanam Hamsavadas Prabhu Saran Parayanam Om Namah Siri Prabhu Deep Narayan Bhagwan Ki
