Webcast from Umag, Croatia (3/4)

Yoga requires authentic study and disciplined practice, not superficial trends. Many misunderstand yoga, seeking only physical benefits or quick certifications from brief trainings. True yoga teaching demands years of deep study in anatomy, philosophy, and spirituality to guide individuals safely. Discipline is the foundation and the measure of success. Authentic guidance comes from genuine teachers and ancient texts, not commercialized novelties. The human body and life are profound gifts to be purified and respected, not polluted by harmful habits or misguided pursuits.

"Half knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge."

"Yoga begins with discipline, and the success of yoga lies in discipline."

Good evening. Please open all the curtains. Here is a little intensive perfume, different kinds of perfumes. Thank you. You know, I have a little bit of a problem with my neck today. Looking to this side all the time when you come hurts a little, so you should always come to the front. Everyone comes here, and then I have to be here. Yes, thank you for your understanding. Always come to the front. If it's just one or two people, it's okay. Thank you. For those who asked for a book to be signed, it is already signed. Whoever the pen belongs to should also take it now. Good evening. There are many lectures and many things to tell you, but most of all, people are very angry that our webcasting people are not disciplined. They always give up. They announce a time and never keep it. They wait half an hour and then think there is nothing. Or they say, "Very soon we’ll begin, very soon we’ll begin." It’s like when a small baby is crying and you say, "Yes, mother is coming, mother is coming." Webcasting must be like television, minute to minute. Even if we are not here, they should continue with some program. So there are people calling me and saying, "What a joke." This is a very bad name for your Yoga in Daily Life, that they are not disciplined. Of course, everyone would like to come and get blessings, and we had today more than fifty mantra disciples. We congratulate them. There are some questions we should answer. People ask for a yoga name, but I don’t know if it’s for a male or female. If I give you a female name, then next life you will be female. And if I give you a male name, you will be female to the male. So always write, please, M or F. So, Vera Malec—I don’t know if it was a man or woman? Vera Malik, it’s a woman. Somebody, come and write the name Vivek. Will you come? Write Vidyā (study), quickly. Durgā, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī. Also female. Vidyā. Nārāyaṇī. Yoga name, please. Nārāyaṇa Jimis. Jagad. Female. Sagar. Haasis. Haasi. Haasis or Haasi. What does she need? Kripa. What is this? Yog-Gīā-Sko-Mī-Tārā. Finished study. Electrical engineer. Ratanpurī. Ines Punoz, we would like to congratulate. There is one question about having problems for more than 16 years: deep coldness and pain in the lower ribs, to the point where I often feel numbness. I’ve consulted with the doctor. What you describe is too little for me to know, but try Śalabhāsana and Garuḍāsana. This will help you. I cannot tell you more because the information is insufficient. Thank you. There is one question about a four-year-old, or six-year-old, a five-year-old young boy: very intelligent but very sensitive. How to educate him? Just pay your attention, and you keep your education as a father or mother. It will be slow. When he develops, it will be okay. So, be just normal parents. There is one very interesting question that was given to me this morning. You know, when I go to my room, I’m not just looking at the television. I always work, so you read it and I will answer. How are you? Dinner was good? Are you happy with the dinner here? Very good. The Croatian dinner is a very nice one because, combined with the Slovenian dinners, I moved through your dining room and I saw you had so many options, such good varieties. Good eating keeps body and soul together. Should I tell the question in English also? There are many English speakers, yes. So there is a question: the parents have a 19-month-old daughter that stopped eating almost four months ago, and they are describing the problems and situations... Doctors said they are sure that she’s a healthy child and that eventually she will start eating, but nobody knows when. That led to, in short, a question from a girl who is 19 months old and stopped eating four months ago. And the doctors say that she is actually physically healthy and that she will start eating again, but they don’t know when. And they are asking Swāmījī for help and suggestions. But there is some difference. They have a special diet for her. While she’s awake, she takes one bite of apple, one bite of seaweed chips, and a piece of chocolate, and that is more or less it. Now, you did not write if she’s losing kilos or she looks normal. It’s a very special case, a very interesting case, but it needs a complete diagnosis. So I cannot tell. The doctor said it’s okay; she’s healthy. Okay, I will say then, also, it’s okay, she’s healthy. Does she live from the prāṇa? Does she lose kilos? Is she very weak? So you have to write to me point by point. Otherwise, I cannot answer you, but it’s an interesting case. Thank you. Well, once more, good evening. And sit on the chair, boy. You can sit on the chair. Rozumis? There is a bench and a chair, you can go and sit there, okay? Make yourself comfortable. Oh my God, young ladies, what have you in mind? Thank you. Thank you. About this question, the father just called. He’s looking at the webcast, and he said that she’s not losing weight, that she’s normal, the child. Well, then don’t worry. So, the father already got the message at home through the webcast. So one thing is sure: our webcast is functioning. Now, finally, but the problem is that they don’t know what the time is. Either announce the webcast and you should do any kind of program at this time, but you must do it, or don’t announce. You know, more than 70 countries are looking, and they have different times. In Australia, the day will come, and then they sleep. So, please, webcast people should be punctual, minute to minute. You can come yourself to the front and talk. "I am a webcast man, and I am looking. If somewhere Swāmījī, you don’t know, or any of our yoga teachers." There are so many yoga teachers in the city. Yoga in Daily Life has thousands of Yoga in Daily Life teachers. Very well trained, very expert. They are not yoga teachers who had a weekend program and then got a yoga teacher certificate. It’s nearly five years of training before they get a yoga teacher’s certificate, and then they have to further have an examination to get a license. It’s a pity that many people understand yoga differently. And it’s a pity that many people offer them yoga teacher certificates after one week of training. Half knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge. It’s not that you just know āsanas and prāṇāyāmas. You should know the entire anatomy, you should know the different diseases, and you should know the psychic problems. You should learn the mentality, and then you should know which āsana is good for which kind of disease or problems. And then you have to study more how to solve the psychic problems, how to develop spirituality. It’s about three years of study of the normal āsanas, prāṇāyāmas, and, parallel, continuously going to satsaṅg and studying spirituality according to yoga. So after three years, two years more. And after two years, then you have to study further śāstras for three years. And after these three years, for one year you have to do your own research work. Then you are a yoga teacher, a Yoga in Daily Life teacher. Many people, they just go for holidays and make their jokes, swimming, morning and evening attend one or two hours of yoga class, and they come home, a yoga teacher, and put a sign somewhere and start a yoga class. There was one person who had a back problem. So someone told him yoga is good. So he went to a yoga class like this, and the yoga teacher put him in Dhanurāsana. He completely turned the other side. So he went into the center like this, and it came out like this. Therefore, Mahāprabhujī said, half knowledge is most dangerous. So, our Yoga in Daily Life teachers are well trained; they have very good training. So, please, if you have any problems, you should consult with them. So, this question, is it good? She has certain gland functions in the body which nourish itself from the prāṇa. And that’s not easy. These qualities sometimes are found in some holy persons. So I would observe this child and just, let’s be a little, don’t force her to eat. Thank you. So when you begin to give your yoga program, you should know who is who, what problem a person has, why one came to yoga practice. A yoga teacher should analyze the person first, completely. Yoga is individual. Yoga is not for big groups. You are coming to me in such a large number to get inspiration. Your real exercises and practices will be in your yoga center, where your Yoga in Daily Life teacher is. And this Yoga in Daily Life book is written in such a way that no one can make a mistake. If you follow the instruction of the book, first you should know the name of the exercise, maybe prāṇāyāma, or āsanas, mudrās, bandhas, kriyās, Haṭha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Rāja Yoga, Jñāna Yoga, Nāda Yoga, Kriyā Yoga, and so on. This you can find in śāstras. What is that? Otherwise, there are so many different names of yoga. I had one consultation with some person ten days ago. He asked me a question on the telephone. "Swāmījī, what can you tell, and do you know the wine yoga?" Wine. Wine or alcohol? "Swāmījī, what can you tell me about wine yoga?" I thought it was veins yoga. You have a problem with the veins, so I said you should do stretching. He said, "No, no, drinking wine." In the śāstras, there is nowhere written "wine yoga." But that person who is developing and teaching, called wine yoga, said, "Practice yoga, drink wine, and experience divine." So there is no wine yoga. So there’s a lot of stupid things going on, and so many, what you call, commercial things. The reality of yoga, people are losing. And many people practice yoga for nothing but just to have a nice body. Why don’t you think that you have a nice body? And if your body is not nice, yoga will not make it nice. Tell your mother, next time give me a nice body. Or people are doing it only because of muscles, and to lose the kilos. To lose the kilos, you don’t need to practice yoga. Simply don’t eat. After one year, you will have only the bones. So, on one side, you are putting in a lot of stuff, and then you practice that you will lose kilos. Therefore, it is, as Patañjali said, yoga needs discipline. Yoga begins with discipline, and the success of yoga lies in discipline. So when you see someone naming a certain system and saying, "This is this yoga, and that’s yoga," then please look into authentic ancient yogic literature, or go to the libraries. Therefore, it’s a pity that around the world many people are misguided in the name of yoga. Take it seriously. So, a yoga teacher is not just a physiotherapist, and also, if you would like to become a physiotherapist, it is three or four years of study. A yoga teacher is not a sports teacher. But to be a sports teacher, you also have to study for a few years. But to become a yogī, don’t count years. But you should know how much knowledge you have. Where do you fail with your knowledge? So, here we are to hear different things. So, I know around the world many brothers and sisters are looking now to the webcast. And I would advise them to look at the background of your system, what you are practicing. Okay? Anything you would like to know? Because this evening’s program is miśramāśīvī. So, I will translate for you one nice bhajan. Okay? Very nice bhajan from Kabīr Dās. Yes, thank you. If you would like to practice yoga and know what yoga is, then don’t look at all these books just showing beautiful young children’s anatomy postures in the books. Or they should show 90-year-old people, how they can perform the postures. These 18, 19, 20-year-old kids, they are like rubber. And you see a nice posture of one man with little muscles, 20 years, and you say, "Wow, all girls would like to have this man." And these girls, they buy this book and tell their husbands, "Look, you must look like that." And the boy goes in the market and looks at the yoga books, and comes home and says, "My dear wife, look, you should be like that." But the fun, look, the bhajans, the poems of the saints, read the Upaniṣads, read the Bhagavad Gītā, Rāmāyaṇa, Vedas, or read what you call the Bible. In the Bible, it is not written if you have strong buttocks or a lazy stomach. True? Now someone said it’s a Christian yoga. I say, "Very good, then practice." That’s it. Why not? How are people trying to manipulate to solve selfishness? The holy books are written for the well-being of humans, so that humans follow ethical and moral principles, and humans protect human society. There was an article in the newspaper that, in the last century, the culture, the religion, and humanity suffered which never suffered in the past. And why? It is due to what you call the higher study nowadays. The higher study—98% of people who study many, many degrees... The higher study, what you call academic, they lost their real feelings to God and to the families. And the farmers and people who live a very normal life, they are preserving our culture, our traditions, our religions, our language, our love, and so on. More divorce takes place among those people who have so-called higher education. Because the so-called intellect has brainwashed you. Too much intellect. And too much intellect is a beautiful apple, but plastic. An intellect without heart, or a heart without intellect, both should be healthy. And intellect is given to give the judgment of what is correct and what is not correct. But this intellect, which we call the so-called highest study, scientists and so on, they are not in a position to judge God. How can you say there is no God? It is only drama. Yes, my dear, in the last minutes of your life, I will come and say, "Is there God?" Or not? "Swāmījī, please pray. I will die now, my house and my money and everything." Then God will... you will remember God. So, if you want to know why you meditate, why you pray, what is God, what is life, what is the creation, what is the aim of human life, why you are born as a human, and how to solve these conflicts on this planet, then read the authentic literature. It’s all just for one weekend seminar and a yoga teacher certificate. There are the books; this is misleading. So, either in India or in Europe or Africa or America, anywhere you can go, there have been great wise people and great saints. Yes, if you want to read a yoga book, then read from Swami Vivekānanda, or read about his masters: Paramahaṃsa Rāmakṛṣṇa, Ramana Maharṣi, and many other great saints, Mahāprabhujī, Līlā Amṛt, bhajans, Kabīrdās, Sūrdās, Mīrā—what great saints! They are a guideline for us. So once Kabīrdās was sitting under a tree, and he saw people fighting. A husband and wife were fighting. After a while, two men came, completely drunk. And one was falling down, and the other was carrying him. And after a while, again, he saw someone who was completely full of drugs. I don’t know what the names of all this are. Giving some injection and inhaling some black or white powder. Which powder do you inhale? So Kabīrdās was thinking. These people did not understand. What is this life? What is human life? Just spoiling this human life. You should know, it is a steamboat. A big ship was going with the steamboat. Now, in the steamboat, you are putting the petrol. Or diesel engine, and you are putting inside the mineral water. Or it is a petrol engine and you put diesel inside, or oil. So this is a water bottle, our body. God didn’t make this body to put alcohol inside. Nice, pure water. White vodka. So Kabīr Dās said, "What a pity." They don’t understand what it means to have this human body. So he said: Jīnīre savinīyā, jīnī jīnā, jīnī jīnā,... jīnī jīnā,... jīnī jīnā, jīnī j... And this is very fine, very fine, very fragile, and it is dipped in the juice of God’s name. It is soaked in the wetness of God’s name. Kīrāma nāma rasabhinī, which is sucked in the name of God. ... Oh my friend, know this shawl is so beautiful. And you know how it has been produced? Aṣṭakamāla kā cārakā banāyā, pāñca takh kī pūnī... Aṣṭ kamalaka cakra banāyā. Aṣṭ kamal. Aṣṭ means eight. Aṣṭ means eight. Kamal means the lotus. Kamal is lotus. Aṣṭa kamala cakra. Cakra means spinning wheel. Aṣṭa kamalaka cakra banāyā pañca tatvakī puni. And material made out of the five tattvas: ether, fire, air, water, and earth. Five tattvas. These are five tattvas. So the material from which the soul is made, the spinning, this is the five elements. This body is made out of five elements. And till today, no scientist, no engineer, no expert is capable of collecting these five elements and making this body. Aṣṭakamal are the eight cakras in the body: Mūlādhāra, Svādhiṣṭhāna, Maṇipūra, Anāhata, Viśuddhi, Ājñā, Bindu, Sahasrāra. These are the cakras through which the energy of this body was created. It took nine to ten months to make this shawl. But the stupid one made this shawl dirty. God bless you. Jab merī chādar ban ghar āyī, raṅg rej ko dīnī... chadariya jini rejini. When this chādar was finished, it came home after nine, ten months—the birth. Then I gave it to the color man to color my soul. Who is that? Your teacher, mother, father, brother, sister, friends, school teacher, and Satguru Dev. Fortunate ones are they who have good spiritual parents. Lucky are they who have good friends, and blessed are they who meet a Satguru Dev who can answer our questions and solve our problems. So Satgurudev is that color man. Esa ranga ranga rangarene rangareya means that color man. Esa ranga, he ranks in such a color. Come red into the red, into the red completely. Since that time, our blood is red. Yes, our blood is red, or someone has white blood. When you have this human body, don’t be in doubt. Don’t think, "I’m lonely. No one loves me. No money. No flat. No friends. God gave me this life. It’s better to die than to have such a life." Kabīr Dāsa said, "Don’t worry, no doubt." Oh, you should be happy that you are human. And you should be more happy and proud that, as a human, you can protect other creatures. My dear, don’t be in doubt. God has given you this only for two days. Enjoy. You never know if you will get it again. Then you go to good friends. They love you very much, and you love them very much. And you say, "Now I must go." "No, please stay half an hour more." Then he said, "I must go now." "One minute more." Why? Because you only have this for two days. One day was yesterday. And the second day is today. You don’t know if you will have this tomorrow also. Therefore, wait, please, stay a little more. Sit beside me. Hold me. O Mother, hold me. Murak log bhed ne jāne, the stupid one. Don’t know the value of this chādar. Day by day, making it dirty through karma and through different poisons. It’s not easy to keep it as pure as it is. We are completely polluted physically, mentally, emotionally, intellectually, socially, politically, economically, and what not. Completely broke down. What comes further? He is mentioning some holy saint’s name, Dhruva. There was a very young God’s... It’s a very beautiful story and a very sad story. The story is something like this: one father and mother had one child. And you know, children love mother and father very much, equally. The mother died, and the father married again, and his second wife also got one child. It’s a long story. But this wife, she didn’t want the child of the other one to sit on the lap of his father. She wanted only that her child sit on the lap of his father. And when Dhruva was sitting on the lap of his father, she came and pulled him away. "It’s not your place here." You know, a small kid experiencing such things, it goes in the subconscious, and lifelong the child will suffer. Don’t get children, and if you get children, don’t get divorced. And if you get divorced, don’t marry again. Divorce forever. Finished. You had all experiences. What do you want more? Oh, my darling, lost and gone forever. You know, in this our modern world, how many children are suffering? Don’t think that, okay? Your child is happy one weekend with you and five days with another one. Who knows? The inner feeling of this very small child: the child was very unhappy. And he ran away. And like this, going more into the story, if I tell you, you will need a lot of tissues to dry your tears. But he said, "God came, and God took him on His lap." And God said, "My child, I will give you my lap forever, unmovable. Rise up in the sky." And that became a planet, a star, Dhruva, the North Star. All other stars are moving, but that is solid there. Dhruva. Dhruva Paila. Paila was also a great bhakta. I will not tell today’s story of Sudāmā, the blind one, but he was a great bhakta of Kṛṣṇa. And when Sudāmā used to sing bhajans, Kṛṣṇa used to come like a little baby, sit, and listen to the bhajans. Kṛṣṇa manifested again in front of Sudhāmā. Dhruva, Paila, Ādi, Sudhāmā, Oḍī, Śukadeva—these were all nirmala kiṅs. There was a great saint called Śukadeva. If someone speaks nicely, wisely, oh, he is the incarnation of Śukadeva. Śukadeva was the son of the great saint Vyāsa. Dās Kabīrne S.E.O.D. and Kabīr Dās also had that soul. Jyoki Teodhardini, as pure as it was, he gave back to God. So, if you wish to know what is yoga, then, in such bhajans, in such poems, in such literature, is the meaning of yoga. It’s not divine yoga, and divine yoga, and what bhogas, and I don’t know what all. We are very fortunate ones, but we are together today. It’s completing the ninth day, Divine Mother. We call it Navarātrī, the nine divine nights of the Cosmic Mother. She takes upon herself the destiny of the devotees. Where Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva cannot solve, then she has to come. When father and brother cannot do, then mother comes and she says, "Sit down, I will make a nice apple strudel." I ate so many apple strudels, but not from a man, but from the women, from mothers. Bansī brings me always nice strudel, and yesterday her husband brought me. And luckily, thanks to God, after so long a time of his marriage, or to me at least, he said, for the first time, he came to my room with this strudel. I said, "Swāmījī, I’m Bansī Devī’s husband." I said, "Oh, I see. Did you make a strudel?" "No, no,... I’m only the transformer." So I hope the next time Bansī will come with the strudel of the Durgā Purī. So, mothers, ladies, women have to take over to harmonize the family situation. Similarly, Divine Mother, the Universal Śakti, Ādyā Śakti, Mūla Prakṛti, Divine Consciousness. Today is the eighth day, and tomorrow is finally the ninth day of her life. She had to incarnate to kill one demon. The story is long. And when she killed him again, he came. So it was a Brahmavākya from Brahmā: the person who can kill in different forms will take nine days. And so every day she took a new form. Tomorrow is finally the celebration of Divine Mother, the feminine power. Don’t take it easy. Your wife is more powerful than you. What do you think? As long as Śakti is gentle and nice. You know, you drink, you do this, she forgives you always. Her heart is great, Mother. A mother can never be a bad mother. So our real mother is that cosmic mother. She is our protector also. Guru, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva. All are manifested in her. When her term comes, so today is a call. Durgāṣṭamī. Today is the eighth day, and tomorrow the ceremony will be celebrated. Unfortunately, through ignorance, people who want to eat meat, but it was not allowed to eat meat, to follow the Ahimsā, so in the name of God they said, "Now we have to offer a male goat or a male buffalo to her." That she will be happy. Mahāprabhujī said she is the mother of all creatures, and no mother wants or wishes that her child will be offered, will be killed. She loves all, not only humans. But there are people; tomorrow, they will kill many goats. But it is strictly prohibited by our Indian government. But people do it. We will not kill, okay? So tomorrow we will celebrate. And you can give something to your mother. You can give your sister something. And you can give your wife also something, chocolate. Flower, that you see in her, that divine śakti. Śakti always needs purity. She doesn’t like dirt, she doesn’t like dirty thinking, she doesn’t like dirty games. Physically, mentally, emotionally, she needs purity. The feminine power sees the form of Lakṣmī, pure. Sees wealth. If the whole world will make a yajña or a pūjā for Lakṣmī, the world financial crisis will be solved. Because Lakṣmī is the goddess of wealth, and she is Sarasvatī, she is wisdom. The intellect is Sarasvatī. So many, many things. Triśandhyā Mukti Gehinī Ardha Mātrā Chidānanda Bhai Agni Bhai Nāsinī Dīp Nayan Bhagavān Devīśvara Mahādeva. So, Prasāda Guru Brahmā Guru Viṣṇu Prasāda Dhyāna Mūlan. Apo Dhyānī, Apo Dhyānī, Apo Yog Prakāśī, Apo Dev Sabdevī, Apo Sur Prakāśī, Maṇirbhaṇī, Apo Chavar Ke Vāsī, Apo Vedav Ke Gyātā, Apo Bhakt Vāsī, Śrī Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Devī Īśvar Mahādev Dharm Samrāṭ Satguru Svāmī Madhavānanjī Bhagavān. Śatīśānatan Ambe Mātākī.
