Keep your body healthy

The human form is a divine gift, yet we misuse it through ignorance and conflict. Spiritual practice is the key to harmony. True knowledge is held by humble sages, not those who proclaim their own greatness. The cosmos is consciousness, structured through five distinct layers or kośas. Yoga is the union of the human with the divine, the skill in all action. Modern technology offers one key, but the eternal science is that of spirituality. The ego, or "haṭ," must be surrendered to attain purity. Haṭha Yoga begins with internal purification through specific cleansing techniques like netī, preparing the body and mind for higher devotion. Physical practice is essential; mere intellectual understanding is insufficient. All paths ultimately lead to devotion, bhakti, which purifies every aspect of one's being.

Among the 8.4 million life forms, humans were not created for fighting or negativity. We should strive to understand one another. God has declared, "You are my part. All are my children." God sent us to this earth as His own reflection. It is said that when God created the human form, it was endowed with all excellent organs—hands, legs, eyes, face, body—everything complete. Yet, we misuse this gift. We do not know God. In the Mahābhārata, we see even a son desiring to kill his father. Regarding the birth of Kṛṣṇa, it is said God reflected, "I made a mistake. I know what they are doing. But now that key is with me." In this age of modern technology, we possess the key of names and numbers. If these numbers align, you can unlock everything; otherwise, you cannot. Only the great spiritual saints, our ṛṣis and holy beings, hold the key of God within their minds. They impart what they perceive and how things should be. All humans intend to do good in the world, yet disturbances arise, and we must suffer for them. But again, God sends a message to transform the energies, urging us: "Please be calm, be peaceful. My dears, my children, work the right way. Practice your sādhanā and keep your body healthy, so you may attain everything and reach the cosmic." What we call the cosmos is space, the sky. Within that sky is consciousness, which cannot be touched or seen directly. There are certain principles, the five kośas: Annamaya Kośa, Prāṇamaya Kośa, Manomaya Kośa, Vijñānamaya Kośa, and Ānandamaya Kośa. These kośas are not merged; they are separate, yet they constitute the whole cosmos. They are connected into the cosmos, balancing the principles of harmony, consciousness, and connection. We have been coming through ages and ages, and today we find ourselves here. There is yoga, and yoga means union—the oneness of humans and God, of space and consciousness, all coming together. Generally, yoga speaks of three points: Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva. We are always Śiva, Brahmā, and Viṣṇu. Śiva, Viṣṇu, and Brahmā are perpetually changing. In that yoga, it is said: yogaḥ karmasu kauśalam—"Yoga is skill in action." As stated in the Bhagavad Gītā, yoga manifests when you perform good work, etc. According to the Bhagavad Gītā, there are 18 chapters on yoga, but there is more to it than just āsanas and prāṇāyāma. These practices are for our body, for living, for understanding how to live healthily and peacefully. Through them, the ṛṣis have taught so many things. There are and will be millions of ṛṣis. Those who proclaim, "I am the best," are merely pushing themselves forward. A true ṛṣi is humble, kind, and does not claim, "I am great." They know and see everything, yet they do not give away God's key. The ṛṣi knows the key and walks the path of that key. There are many, many different technologies. There are two kinds of techniques: what we call science here, which is very good and not wrong. We have learned a great deal in our brain. However, as much as we acquire, we sometimes say, "I am great," but this too vanishes when we are gone. In contrast, the science of yoga, the science of spirituality, the science of the great sense... that is eternal. Is it living? We must look further and not be distracted by many sciences. You can see many distractions in every country, but again, harmony will return, and God will take over. Yoga has many paths. First, it is called Haṭha Yoga. There is a beautiful bhajan: "Haṭha Chodam Natsotaran." "Haṭ" means "I will, only I will, only this, only that." This is the "haṭ." When one is like this, a yogī becomes identified with this "haṭ." We have too much "haṭ." "Haṭ" means "go out"—hat jā, go away from here. So the bhajan says: haṭa chod manā, "O mind, give up your haṭ." Then you will see, you will be in purity. Now, humans have come very much onto this path of Haṭha. Haṭha means "me, mine; it is not yours, it is mine. I will push you dead." This is Haṭha. For that, Haṭha Yoga is prescribed. In Haṭha Yoga, what are we to use? Purity. Cleanliness. Everything. Haṭha means no negative thoughts. Be clean in brain, body, and mind. Therefore, the first is Haṭha Yoga, and from there we can come to Bhakti Yoga. With this "haṭha" meaning humbleness, we have to come back, and then comes Bhakti Yoga. What is Bhakti? Bhakti means to do good for everyone, to be humble to all. Give first to others, and then live for yourself. Bhakti means devotion to God. When we perfect Haṭha Yoga, our path leads to the cosmic. And what is the cosmic? That is God. What we call God is spirituality—bhakti, bhakti, bhakti. When bhakti is present, all organs of the body, all feelings, all thoughts become pure. Then we fold our hands. We have become pure through the whole body. This is the bhakti path. All these paths were created by gurus or ṛṣis, who knew when and what to do. There are many beautiful stories of Gurujī in his book, which we will translate. All these stories are very nice. In the context of haṭha, there are many bhajans, stories, and signs to become pure as a bhakta. After a few thousand years, these five yogas were established: Bhakti Yoga, Jñāna Yoga, Agni Yoga, Rāja Yoga, Haṭha Yoga, etc. Haṭha Yoga is a very strong one. Haṭha Yoga states that to proceed to the Brahma Yogas, you must clean yourself. There are five principles: Haṭha Nīti, Dhautī, Bastī, Naulī, Trāṭaka, and Vāta. These five principles purify the inside. First is purification of the bodies. We practice Saṅkt Prakṣālana, which you know well, and we must do it with concentration. We begin with netī and dhotī. Netī means cleaning both nostrils. We inhale many dust particles and impurities that travel to the mind's side and reach the brain. This connects with the nerve systems. Therefore, the first practice is netī and dhotī, starting with the nostrils. Prāṇāyāma is related to this netī. Netī is performed with water. All thinking must be cleared, but first we must clean our nerve systems. It is very important to clean our brain and mind, keeping positive thoughts. However, for Corona, we need a negative [test]. Otherwise, these are the two nāḍīs: Iḍā and Piṅgalā. Iḍā is the left nostril, Piṅgalā is the right. The central channel is what we call Bhagavān Śiva, the third eye. The third eye is our inner thought, our thinking. We all possess the third eye; we do not see only with our physical eyes but also inquire from inner thought. For this, we come to prāṇāyāma. The prāṇāyāma proceeds by first cleaning the principle of the nostrils, which is called netī. Netī is beautiful. You use a pot. We put lukewarm water inside, slightly warmer than body temperature, with a little salt. If you do not add salt, you will feel hardness in the body or nostrils. Just as there is salt in our blood, there should be salt in the water for the body. Without salt, the nostrils will feel very unpleasant. We must use good salt and boiled water. Tomorrow I will bring the water I use. In our book Yoga in Daily Life, everything is beautifully explained. Many people have problems with the head, complaining for many days, "Oh, my head, I have problems." But they do not practice, even though I tell them many times. This is what we have: our prāṇāyāma, āsanas, kriyā, anuṣṭhāna—body unification. First, clean every day with salt water in the nostrils, even if you have no headache. Second, drink more water early in the morning—half a liter of warm or cold water. After netī comes dhautī. One should practice these five: netī, dhotī, bastī, etc. But there are people who suffer, feeling so bad with headaches, yet they will not do these yoga techniques, my dears. In our book Yoga in Daily Life, you see the netī pot. This is for people who have headaches. Sometimes—I do not wish to say sorry, but it must be said—it is also for the person who quickly becomes angry, does not show it outwardly, but internalizes it, leading to a headache. We give all these practices: our Haṭha Yoga, netī, dhautī, bastī, naulī, tratāka. I thought to bring forth all our techniques of Haṭha Yoga again. Haṭha is also good. It means you may not want to practice, but you should. You might say, "No, not today," but you must say, "No, I will do it for my body, my health." Therefore, we should practice haṭha: force your body, tell your body, "Get up, drink that water, clean with netī dhotī." That is a yogī. All of us sitting here, perhaps only 2.5% are healthy, or maybe only 1%. The rest are not in good condition. That is why we suffer. When you come to the path of yoga, it is not only meditating. Concentration can make you lazy, and laziness creates more problems in the body. Therefore, yogaḥ karmasu kauśalam: do your good karma, and it will be okay. Tomorrow we will continue with netī, ḍoṭī, bastī, naulī, trāṭaka, kapālabhāti, etc. You have very nice photos; this book is great and done very well. Nauli, dhauti—my God, perfect! Then you will see, "Oh, I am good." How to do this? All photos are inside. Let us come to this path. It means learn for your body. We should do something for at least two or three hours only for our body, and the rest you can do other things. Peace, peace... Harmony, peace, peace. There is a bhajan from Mahāprabhujī. You will listen to it one day; we have it in our videos. I know, my dear brothers and sisters, that we have mauna (silence) for everybody. Nobody is speaking. If somebody talks too much, then we have to do something different, so I went. Rām, Rām, Rām. You are all silent. I am in a glass box. Oxygen is coming from above so I can speak without anything coming from your side or from me. We only see through the glass. This is also a good experience. I wish you all the best, my dears. Have a nice evening. We will see Mahābhārata again today. We learn a lot. It shows us how we are and what we are doing, and still we do not act. We know, but we do not want to. It is said that in a beautiful aeroplane, one is taken to heaven, and we will see how he goes there. It is not a joke; it is there by Alakpurījī’s sentence. It was said they would go to have praṇām and blessings from Alakpurījī, crossing many rivers—Sarasvatī was there, and others through the Alaknandā. All right, my dears, all my brothers, sisters, bhaktas, yogīs. I wish you all the best. I offer my prayers to Bhagavān Alak Purījī, Dev Purījī, Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī, Brahmanandajī, Śivānandajī, Tārānandajī, all Gurujī’s disciples. You and I are just Gurudev’s, in the dust of the Holy Saints. I wish and pray for our whole world to return to normal, for all this disease to be cleansed. Please, Gurudev, clean it. We will not do anything more negative. Please, please. We pray. In certain parts, people are fighting. Please do not. We said a prayer that we live in harmony and peace. We should all pray for what is happening now in the world to be restored to its best. Om Śānti, Om Śānti, Om Śānti. In peace and in health.
