Drops go back to the ocean

The Guru's grace is the sole means for spiritual attainment and worldly fulfillment.

The Guru is the embodiment of divine principles, identical to Śiva, Viṣṇu, and the supreme Brahman. All spiritual practice, from meditation to liberation, originates from the Guru. The disciple's mind is like a flowing river, often caught in circular, worldly thoughts. Entering the ashram is like a pure drop of water seeking the ocean; one must consciously direct the mind's flow toward the divine. Without this discipline, even a long life of practice can be wasted, as the mind falls back into impurity. The Guru's seat is a sacred trust, requiring constant purity to occupy. The goal is to merge the individual consciousness into the boundless ocean of the absolute.

Today, we are very happy that our Pūjya Gurudev has returned from various other āśrams after one week. We are truly blessed by our Gurudeva. I think everything is possible when our Gurudeva is blessing us. Swami Pūjya Tulasīdāsajī said that only the Guru's lotus feet are most important for us. If we touch our Gurudeva’s lotus feet, we can achieve everything in this material world and in the spiritual world also. Actually, Gurudeva is just a form of Lord Śiva. In another way, Gurudeva is another form of Bhagavān Bṛhaspati Deva and Bhagavān Viṣṇu. Therefore, we call out: Śrī Śrī 1008 Viśva Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Paramahaṁsavāmī Śrī Maheśvarānandjī Purījī Gurudeva Kī Jaya. Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya. Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī Jaya. Today we are going to present the Śiva Rudrāṣṭakam, sung by Prabhu Śrī Rāma. Oṁ Śiva Maheśvarāya, Śiva Maheśvarāya, Śiva Maheśvarāya, Śiva Maheśvarāya, Śiva Maheśvarāya. Thank you very much, all was very good, thank you. Good evening, everyone, all sisters and brothers around the whole world. Yoga in Delhi, life constantly we are in concentration. Actually, what do we do in our life? There is, we are trying to do, but it’s a one. Gurujī was giving one little story, and it is about guru and disciple, and he was a very humble disciple, but sometimes he could not think and do something, and the Gurujī would give the knowledge, instructions, what you will do, what you should do. It’s a very interesting story. Well, one was guru and disciple, and they were one. All the time, he was going and going, not standing two three days in one place. There are three stories already in my mind, but I will not do everything today. So Gurujī and his disciple, they were working, going. They came to one little village, and they were not staying in the... One night in the villages, a little distance away, they had some kind of food with them. They were making themselves some food, Guruji and disciple. So one day they stayed three days under a beautiful little tree, and the next day Guruji said to his disciple, "We have everything, but we don’t have oil for vegetables, making food, vegetables." So he gave him one beautiful... they got one like this glass, but that was not a glass. It was for the pūjā, making with the fire from the cow dung. They put something like a kugel on it, so it was empty. So he said to Guruji, "Guruji, take this glass or this pot and bring the oil." He had only one paisa, and one paisa at that time was very much. The whole day when you work, maybe you get five. So he went there to the farmers and in his shop, so he said, "Yes, please." He said, "My Gurujī just gave me this one paisa and told me to bring the oil." At that time, people were very honest, so there was a nice vessel, and he gave the oil inside. He was holding it, and it was full, so... The merchant said, "Swamiji, this is full, but still you have your oil. What to do?" He said, "Don’t worry, turn it this side." So he turned it this side, and he put the water inside, or the oil. He said, the merchant said, "Maybe he’s not a good person, maybe he’s a little bit different in his brain." So with oil, he came. Guruji was sitting, Guruji was making vegetables and so. And said, "Son, did you bring the oil?" "Yes, Gurujī." "Oh, very." But he said, "It’s so little oil, which one?" "No, Gurujī, it’s also here inside." But that was, or the other one is again, there was first oil, he filled it out, this was full. And he said, "No, no, I have inside, there was nothing." Guruji said, "I know that you are doing very hard, but still, sometimes you are not under control." "So what should I do?" He said, "That is your problem. I give you, I send you, but you then should know how to do. I told you." "So what will I do?" He said, "Well, if you’re going on doing like this..." There was a story about the same on other days, that I will not tell you, maybe I will do it tomorrow. He said, "You were very hard bhaktis you were doing with me, and working, meditations, concentrations, seva, etc." "Guru seva. Yes, Guruji, what I am doing." He said that I know, but what I gave you, you pulled it down. And what was the other side, a little bit left? You turned it to the other side. Similarly, this is an ashram. Today I came here, and every day you are here. This is a Bhakti Sāgar, Bhakti Sāgar. This is so beautiful, office or house or whatever we give this. You are inside. And here you are sitting. Where is your vṛtti? You know what is a vṛtti? Who knows vṛtti? Hand up. And who doesn’t know the vṛtti? One, two, then hand it up or down. You don’t know what is vṛtti? Then you should hand up. Not like this. That’s not. When Gurujī said, "Hand, this is not this." Yes, that’s it. So we were here in this hall. And now, there are many of us sitting here: Indian people, Western people, people from other countries, and all. We are here. When we enter the door of our ashram here, in the meditation hall, we can ask: what are you thinking when you are coming in? What is a vṛtti? Tell me, what is a vṛtti? You tell me exactly what is a vṛtti. Now, it was a flow of mind. In which direction? In which direction? Vṛtti. So, in which direction? So, you came into the hall. Now, where did you go when you sat? So in the river, there are certain rivers. Water is flowing, but sometimes going in the round. Avatarpurī has been living for half a year in South India. And there is one river, a beautiful one river. Holy Gurujī has written in the bhajan, in that river, and there are in that river many people coming. And there are three people coming together, but there is one hole, and it’s making like a circle inside. And water goes in. Even the elephant will go in and will not come out. Don’t know where he is. Yes, tell me more, Kaveri. And what? And more? Stand up and say what was happening there. Not only crocodile, humans also. Yeah, okay, so. They are coming here in this hall. You are all in this hall now. You can come in, and we are near the Gurudevs, in the holy feet of the Gurudevs. And whatever Gurudev has given us, what we should speak, bhajans, meditations, concentrations in the heart, what we do for... What we came, and so whole day from the early morning when you got up, what have you been thinking? We think first, "I am human. I am human," and it means that I’m not an animal. I will act according as a human. Then we said from our... Sleeping bed, when we step up out, we said, "Matṛ Pṛthivī Māta, I can put my hand, like my feet, on you, Mother." Kyāṅki there are two mothers: one is our Earth, second is our mother who gave us birth. Second, there are many. Things I am human. Can I stand out? And then we said to go to the water, see the water. After the whole night you were sleeping, and now when first time we touch the water, maybe little drops or hold when you go to the bathroom when we come to the bathroom or near the water. With both hands or one hand, we take the water. Tomorrow, you will think also in the whole body and whole nerve systems everywhere, the water is going in as a vibration, and the whole day will be purity’s clinic. Then, after further, we are doing many things. Similarly, when we came here, but where is the vṛtti? We are making prayers, and there are some who are always looking towards, let’s say, towards Nārada Muni. So when he’s coming, everybody’s looking. He’s attacking and attracting. Is this beautiful man a very good yogī, or is it a stupid person, or what is it? Always coming and going, or one is thinking, "Why did he not marry? Maybe he didn’t get any girl." What is the vṛtti? Not his. He is pure. He is completely pure. The drop of water comes from above, from the clouds. How nice it is. But this water will go on the earth again. Then there will be different kinds of energy, purities, impurities, etc. So when we come from that, and that amṛt was coming on your palm, and now it doesn’t matter where you were, maybe like in Rajasthan, sandy, hot, but the drop came in your hand. Now you, you got a very pure, crystal clear. And now you took the, and you went to the ocean, and you walked into the ocean. And now you see, this drop of water is like a crystal. And down is the ocean. One drop wants to come to the ocean. If you drop this in the ocean, it will become whole as an ocean. But because it’s a good drop and very nice, I can drink it. Until you come, but you drink it, but everything is gone. Now it went into your body, impurities or purities, in which way as blood or fluids or many things in the body, urine, et cetera, you are in everything. Again, you fall into that, and again we don’t know when we will come. Then it will come again to that drop directly and will remain there. Similarly, we are all here in this room; they came from many countries. From far distances, and they have good village, they have good country, they have good work, they have money or no money, very funny. They were running, but anything, they were running, funny, they were running, come to the garden. Why? Because that is the ocean for them. They who came from Croatia, Hungary, America, Australia, this, everything, why, when they go to work, there will be different countries, of course. But let’s say Austria, in Austria, they are, let’s say, middle, they have 300 or 1,000 euros. And Hungary gets about 100 euros or something more. But that’s enough. And here, of course, in India, according to Indians, money is enough. But Indians are very good. Some, some are alcohol and meat, and they are gone, they are gone in the kernel, not in the ocean. But they come here and make the sādhanā, and now in this sādhanā, everybody is sitting with closed eyes, and I am... I don’t want to tell you, you will think that Swāmījī is a joke. Not a joke, I close the eyes. And I know that yogīs are working on something, and suddenly they become hungry, angry. Look at that side. They are crying. Oh, and some, they said, "Oh, the yogīs are very good, standing up and working there." Everybody said, "Oh, very nice." So now here, what is your vṛtti? What is the vṛtti of premanant? And what is the vṛtti of the Agni Devī? Or look, the Pṛthvī of our Puṣpa. Puṣpa was thinking, "Today I will also sing," because she is a very good singer. Tomorrow she will come again. So, what is going on? So that it is said, when it is said, "I am, I got the Brahman. I got the Brahman. I am in heaven." I had everything. Yes, you did everything good. But tomorrow, what will happen? If you were very clean, very pure, very this, and tomorrow, suddenly, you fall into different things. You worked the whole day, and you come for some good fruits and something, very nice fruits, and this, and what to do? You took the fruits and brought the alcohol. All day, good fruits and good waters and good things and money, money,... money. He didn’t go home. His wife is waiting for the vegetables and something. But he came with the alcohol. His wife said, again, "I have nothing." He said, "Don’t talk with me. It’s your problem." I have my drink. There are many things. What I so like is that they are here, you in this ashram hall. You are also one of our brothers who have come from different countries, from our Kailash Ashram, from Nagore, from there. All of you are in our police force. But now that you have come here, how much has their feeling come inside you, that this is our place. And when they go out, they have their work. They have to work, they have to go, they do this, they do that. So what am I going to do? You have dropped everything. What? The drop is gone. Or the drop is, you know, you are not doing, but it is going on this part of the palm. And in the hollow of the palm, the water, one drop. My dear, how long will you have this? Suddenly, you are going to the ocean. My God, look how beautiful. I cannot show you how nicely it is. Look. Oh, my God. Look. Hey, the man, please. Look. It is the ocean. Yeah, but if it’s going to the ocean or it is going somewhere, then this is the ocean or this is gone. So, what you are doing, and you came here to this ashram under the Gurujīs—Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, Alakpurījī—they are there. This is the Gurujī’s gāḍī. But if Gurujī has given me this gādī, it means not until you will last the life of your days, then we will say, "My disciple, my son, you are not fit to sit on this gādī. You are not fit to sit on this gādī." That’s it. So when you will practice... And you do otherwise, keep working. Everyone is working, and he did not vent or something. Do like I think so. So this is that. So we did, let’s say, 90 years. 90 years we remained this drop in our palm, and before that, it falls down. Because Bhagavān said, God said, animals kill animals, all animals, but humans do not. But if humans are doing more difficult or negative things, then they will go down near to Brahmaloka. Don’t worry, you can go there. Or what will happen then? And where is the Brahmaloka? I drive, I fly many times in aeroplanes, many, many... Which day, which flight, which country to which countries? Where is my ticket? How much money? All is my doctor, or in my room, or in my ashram in Vienna? Agni Dev
