Sanskrit Hindi and yoga

The essence of yoga and spiritual understanding is rooted in language and devotion. Sanskrit is the primary and most refined language, containing the 52 divine letters corresponding to the body's chakras. Many are losing their native tongues, creating a spiritual disconnect. Preserving and learning languages like Hindi and Sanskrit is crucial for true yoga practice, as the postures and knowledge are embedded within them. True comprehension comes from engaging with the source language. The relationship with the Guru is paramount for spiritual progress. Meditating upon the Satguru leads beyond the cycle of birth and death. Service and remembrance of the Guru are the highest practices, aligning the individual with the divine principle.

"Meditate on the Satguru. Those who concentrate on your Guru’s birth and death. Then no other birth will be."

"Oṁ Namoḥ Gurudev Gosāī, Sudhbudhi Gyānādijo Prabhumohi Brahma, Viṣṇu, Maheśwar, Deva, Sabhī Kare Tumhārī Śeva."

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Devādhī Deva, Deva Puruṣa Mahādeva, Satgurū Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān, Satya Sanātana, Alak Puruṣa Mahādeva. Good evening to all dear sisters, brothers, and to yoga and daily life. Good evening and good morning to those in other time zones, countries, and to midday. To yoga and their life, and all other yogas, āśrams, centers—everything—dear brothers, sisters, and others. People and friends are trying to come again into their inner self. We know that is happening, and we pray that we all come in good health. Many could not reach the point of coming to the hospital for medicines, but now, more or less, we wish to come onto this path to be healthy through yoga practice. Come to the yoga practice. We say the name "yoga" in their life, or that yoga center—that’s okay, but yoga is yoga. For example, your sister’s name is Śānti; another sister, Parāś; others, Piyārī; or every brother’s name is Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Jesus. Whatever you are doing, the reality is one. But the name and fame travel far with us, while that body is just a body. What will be its end? A dead body. Similarly, if you practice yoga, yoga and a life, or other names, it is all right and very good, and it should be. To come to one point: in the Hindi language, Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the first and the best, but for many, it is not easy to pronounce, so they write in different languages. One book is in Sanskrit, and others are very near, close to these words. In that, we have 52 Akṣara Devatās, and this is exactly what we call it concerning the chakras. From the Mūlādhāra to the Sahasrāra chakras, all this becomes 52. Each alphabet is very clear and very nice. I was thinking, and I know that in India, Indians are losing their language slowly. Even though Rajasthan speaks Hindi and other parts do too, all Indians want to educate their children in English. The parents—mother and father—the mother says "Papa," or Papa also, "Māmī." Māmī is the one who is the last, or Papa is the puppy. What is a puppy? A sinner. But they don’t understand they have lost it, and that is why many problems are arising in these times. If they come back to their languages and their country—which is theirs—but now we are going to other countries. Coming here is a pity; it is a great pity that Indians are losing everything. I have been in many countries in Europe, and every country has its language. The Germans have the German language; Croatia has Croatian; Slovenia has Slovenian; Czech has Czech; Slovakian, Czechoslovakian, etc.; Hungarian has Hungarian. Though it is a small country, they have their language and write everything in it. They may learn other languages—French, English—but they all remain with their mother tongue. Unfortunately, one day [our language] will be lost. Because I am Indian, I am here, and I am so sorry—I have been 52 years outside in other countries. But when I come here and ask them to speak in English, to give a lecture, they will say a few words and then begin to speak in Hindi. Some who have learned speak English, English, English. Then others cannot hear. The people in the villages, parents don’t know; they only have their language. So, I think we have to bring something back to the Indians, to have their language. They don’t know; they cannot even speak—that’s the problem. You know what a "dapple" means? Next time, I will do "dapple dub dub"... It’s nothing, anyhow. I was thinking, and my people, the Western peoples—America, New Zealand, anyways, there are many—they would like to learn Sanskrit. They would like to have the Hindi language, which is called Devanāgarī. What is a Deva? God. So that language is Devanāgarī. "Nāgarī" means people. All who are sitting are Nāgarīk. From which country are you? That is called this Nāgarīk: Gujarat Nāgarīk, Austria Nāgarīk. Nāgarīk means our people, and that is what we call Devanāgarī. And Deva means Bhagavān, because those words are such that in the human body centers, many things are in that body of humans. I was thinking, we were thinking we will be teaching. Now we know that in yoga, in daily life centers, and our ashram, and our school, and our college, we have here our... So, we would like to bring these people again, teaching Hindi, Sanskrit, and what yoga? When you want to learn yoga, you have to learn first in that Sanskrit; then you will be there. I spoke to my principal in my college. I told him, and he’s in Jodhpur University, and from that university we have got it—we, Yoga in Daily Life. So we can learn there about yoga, and you get the diploma: Hindi’s diploma and Sanskrit’s diploma. So, all, at least in Yoga in Daily Life, I don’t force anyone. But who would like to do that? It would be very good to learn. It is a learning. I like that I learned something, the German language. I was there. I didn’t go to the school there, but I learned. I can understand something. Then also, people said, "Oh yeah, he’s very good." In 1952, in Czechoslovakia, a communist country at that time, I went to bring yoga. Of course, they didn’t want to have a religion, neither Croatian nor any religions at all. But when I was there, they said there are three things you should not do; then you can come to our country and teach yoga. I said, "Yes, that’s why." I told him, "My yoga, my language, my everything is like yours. You will be happy with what I am." He said, "What is that?" First: do not remove anything from the West? Movable? Anything from our country? No newspapers, and this, and no politics. I said, "That’s why I’m known here. I’m not, I don’t know this, but I am like this." What teaching? Then they said, "What was it?" So I said, "I will teach you High Hindi language." They said, "Oh, Russians, they like it very much," because the Russians like it very much and are good friends with Indians. So I was teaching there, beginning with Hindi Bhāṣā. I will tell you today, because time is gone, so I... He was teaching in a good way, and you will all learn now. You, everybody, learn what I am telling, okay? "Kākha-gāgadam, kākha-gāgadam... kākha-gāgadam." And after that, what will come? Everybody knows that at each point in the chakras, these letters are there. Isn’t that right? It comes so quickly. Good. You will learn. Now, this is number one. Number two: now we will have three classes in the college: Hindi, Sanskrit, and Yoga. All people in other countries will learn via distance in their countries, and once you have to come here. Those who come here to make yoga more and spiritualities, everything in the ashram—we will go to the college, and in the college they will teach in the morning, and the rest of the time we are doing our ashram work. So those can come, of course. You have to pay the money; otherwise, our government will not take it. But we will say, "Money, less, how much?" and then you will get a certificate. That’s right. We will do all from that, and the Sanskrit. In Sanskrit, we have one disciple in the Czech Republic; she’s teaching Sanskrit, but we will get some very good teachers. Good idea, yes. Then we will bring this gentleman and the sister. Yes, you will study Sanskrit. We will do a lot, then we will take you abroad, okay? We will do a lot. So this is like that. Then you will understand. What is yoga? If you understand the language, then you will understand. Otherwise, take the exercises we have, and all postures of the bodies in yoga. In yoga, there are animal postures, like Cobra. But, Bābājī, if I know, sir, I’ve cut out Anna. Let’s go. Can I tell you what you are saying? Bhujaṅgāsana, yes, Bhujaṅgāsana, and bear, or what else, Marjorie, who is Marjorie? Cat, cat... Yes, so there are many, many names—these animal names and trees, yes or not? Yes, Vṛkṣāsana. What is the name? Vṛkṣāsana. Tāḍāsana. Tāḍāsana. Vṛkṣa. Amṛta. Very good. So, everything is in yoga. All these letters. I was thinking, and then yesterday we were saying, after, what is, how to go that, then "Kākkā Kabatīsī, Kakka Batisi." What does the Kakabattīsī mean? Forty-two. Tell me, what is kakabattīsī? No, no, what is kakabattīsī? What does kakabattīsī mean? Forty-two. Yes, that’s it. You forgot, but it is bound. So, leaving Kākabattīsī, how much is there ahead? It is there, right? We have to start studying. Who taught me the most? My Gurujī, Madhavānandajī Bābājī. How? He said, "Did you study or not?" I said, "I don’t know." He said, "Which one should I study?" Yes. Therefore, it was written by Gurujī for the first time. It was in 1965. Our Guru Deśa Swāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān says, I am telling you with folded hands. What does Simṛu mean? What is Simṛu? I do Simran. I do Simran. I do Simran. I do Simran. I do Simran. I do Simran.... What is Śvāsa o Śvāsa? Svāhā is not it. What is its name? Śvāsa o Śvāsa. That means I take my breath inside. Even then I take the name of my Guru, and when my breath comes back, even then I take the name of my Guru. This is called Śvāsa o Śvāsa. When the breath is going inside, when Bābājī and Gurujī say this, then I understand my Mahāprabhujī. When I come back, then also I say, coming and going, both of them, breathing in and breathing out—this is my prayer to my Gurudev. I am Śrīmān. I repeat this to you. This is called Śrī Pūjya Dīpa Dayā Lahari. Śrīpūjya—Pūjya means the one whom we pray for, the one whom we worship. We call him Pūjya Gurudev. We don’t say it for us. We pray for Gurujī, we worship him, the one whom we pray for, Śrīpūjya Dīpa Dayāl Hari. Hari Bhagavān, Śrī Bhagavān, Param Puruṣottam, khas param, highest of the highest Puruṣottam in humans, highest of the humans, Puruṣottam, sabse baḍe vo Puruṣottam. Puruṣ to sab haiṁ, aur Puruṣ kā matlab keval ādmī nahīṁ, maylā bhī hai, isliye inko kyā jātā hai? Don’t say that all of them are Param Puruṣottam. All of them are men. Don’t say that all of them are human beings. They are human beings too. They are souls. But in that, above that, Puruṣottam. That God is the greatest of all. That is Bhagavān. Khas. Khas means yes. That is that. Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, hand folded, he is saying, "Śimru, swasthu sad." I say, "I am Śimru." This is what happens. The one who is called a disciple, he is a guru. The second one goes ahead by doing dhabā dhabā.... What did Bābājī say, Mahādvanānjī? Now, what does gusāī mean? Bhagavān. Prabhu. Śuddha. Śuddha means pure, clean. Sudbud. Bud means intelligent. Gyān. Gyān dī jo Prabhu mohī. O Bhagavān, give me such knowledge that I am saying something now. Prabhu Mohi. O my Prabhu, means Mahāprabhujī. If you give me this knowledge, knowledge, purification, whatever is good, then, "Oṁ Namo Gurudev Gushāyī Sudh Budh Gyān Dvijo Prabhu Mohi Brahmā Viṣṇu Maheśwar Deva Sabhī Kare Tumāre Sevā Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī." Madhvanānjī says, that Guru Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Maheśwar are Devas. But Guru is not a Deva. He is above. That is why everyone should do your service. Oh God, Brahma, Viṣṇu, they also serve that Guru. Rāma was being served. Krishna was being served by his Guru. Those Gurus bring wood. What were they doing? Good for me, peaceful for me, everything my happiness. Hey Prabhu, hey Gurudev, all they are meditating on you, Gurudev. Sumare, again sumare, Rām Rām... Tera nāma sarva sukha kārī, sumare sukī hoi nara nārī. Jo manuṣya, nār nārī, ādmī aur puruṣ, jo mailā jo hai, vo iskā nām śimaraṇ kareṅgī, to sukī raheṅgī. Tum hī sab devān ke devā. That you are the God of the Gods. Devon kā deva. I don’t need money. I need nothing. Don’t ask me anything. But Gurudev, at your lotus feet, I worship your holy feet. That is. You see in everyone? In Christianity, I want to say, also, that his Gurujī was worshipping there. And then he also gave them holy feet, Gurudevs, to the disciples. That was everything, very much. And you know that when they come in many churches, in many churches in Yugoslavia at that time, when disciples are coming, they are falling on the whole body. Then Jesus is also getting blessing. And now they are only doing like this. This or this. This, this, I don’t know. Doesn’t matter, this or that. This hand, this hand, and this. Oh, God. So that’s good. That is very good. Thank you. Give me, please, my seva for your holy feet. He who will concentrate and look to the Gurudev, even on the picture—it is not a picture, it is a Gurudev. When one person is making one body from the mūrti, statue, and he is sitting on it, but when the sādhanā pūjā ho jātīye, then he will not touch on him, he will fall down in front of him. That’s it. When that happens, you go to the church or to other holy people. What are they doing there? Everywhere in the whole world, and why not? They have their own country. There is that, why not? It’s good. They should do like this when that one. They will meditate on the Satguru, then there will be no birth and death. Then there will be no birth and death. Then you can go from Gurudev to Paramātmā. Meditate on the Satguru. Those who concentrate on your Guru’s birth and death. Then no other birth will be. Then you will not die. You will not kick dry, Amma, dry die. Because even you are not born, you will not die. Yes or no? That’s vo nahī āve. That will not come again into this Kali Yuga or in this saṁsāra. Kakka bāti sī kā pāṭ jo kare. Therefore, kakka bāti sī. 52. Kakka, they are every day. You should learn this. It’s the pūjā that will cross the ocean. Ocean means not anymore coming in that, going to the heaven. Tomorrow we will sit, so therefore Sanskrit, Hindi, and Yoga—these three subjects around the whole world, for those who want. And Gyan is a Gyan language, is a language, doesn’t matter, that’s it. So next time we will continue. All the best.
