How came Vishwaguruji to Hungary first

The first meeting with a master is a pivotal moment of grace. A suggestion came to invite a true yogi. Contact was made through an intermediary who relayed the master's location. Persistent requests finally led to an invitation. The arrival was simple, met at a train station. Hospitality was offered in a modest home, though understanding of the master's nature was limited. A neighbor's small flat, filled with mattresses, was also shown. The master stayed for a month, leading programs and creating a foundation for the disciples' growth.

"Svāmījī came from the last wagon of the train, walking forward, and then Kṛṣṇānanda looked at him and said, 'Yes, this is that.'"

"And then Svāmījī said, 'Now I live here to see, let’s see how they grow.'"

Filming location: Vép, Hungary

We need a mic for it. It is very hard for me to speak now here, because always Krishnānanda was speaking and I was just supporting him from behind. We were really lucky that in 1976 we had the chance. And I have seen Svāmījī for the first time on the wall of her home. That was a translator with us from Košice, and he said that if you would like to meet a real yogī, a real master, then you should invite this person to Hungary. After a few months, we managed to get in contact with Katarina. Svāmījī is in India now, but if he comes back or if we can make contact with him, he will remind him that we are waiting for him in Hungary. She said that Svāmījī is at the moment in India, but when he comes back, or when she manages to talk to him, then she will tell him that we are looking forward to seeing him. We tried to ask our leader at that time to invite Svāmījī. We asked him every week, but he always said, "Okay, I will do it sometime." But finally, we managed to invite Svāmījī in May, and then he came. I waited at home, and we tried to give back to the Czechs the hospitality that we got from them. Krishnānanda went to the station. I was at home waiting for them and for Svāmījī, and also I tried to return the hospitality which we received from the Czech backpackers. Krishnānanda went to greet Svāmījī. He was the translator; he could only speak two words, yes and no. There was another boy who had a car, and so two of us went to the train station. Svāmījī came from the last wagon of the train, walking forward, and then Kṛṣṇānanda looked at him and said, "Yes, this is that." Our leader at that time became very nervous because there was no hotel, there was no vegetarian meal, and nothing was prepared. So we invited Svāmījī to our home, but we didn’t know what a master meant. So we made Svāmījī sit on the floor, we sat next to him, we chatted, but Svāmījī was very nervous and he was smiling all the time. We asked Svāmījī to sit on the ground, and then we sat beside him, and we drank tea with him, but he was very polite. And then I remember that our neighbor, who lived below us, was at the moment in Germany, and he said that we could use his flat if we needed. So I invited Svāmījī to see it. It was also a very small flat, 37 square metres. And it was full of inflatable mattresses prepared for the Czech backpackers to sleep there. And he said, "This is what I need, this is what I need, this is what I need." And my ego jumped on the ceiling. How can he think that he will live here alone? Svāmījī went to see this flat and looked around at the mattresses and told that we don’t need this, we don’t need that, we don’t need that, and then my ego was jumping to the ceiling. How does he think that he will sleep here alone? But after a few days, all the boys were sleeping downstairs and all the women were sleeping in the flat above. And in Hungary, they don’t usually leave their shoes outside, like in Czechoslovakia, so the whole building was full of shoes. And the neighbors were thinking, "Who are these crazy people to invite so many guests?" And even one night, someone had to sleep at the bus stop. But finally, everything sorted out. And Svāmījī stayed with us for one month. The picture is just in front of me when Svāmījī left. Me and Krishnānanda were sitting on the ground, and Svāmījī was on the train, and our eyes were full of tears, both me, Krishnānanda, and Svāmījī. And then Svāmījī said, "Now I live here to see, let’s see how they grow." Our first weekend program was in Virágosnyerek, it was only one weekend. The first weekend program was in a place called Virágosnyereg. And the next week was near a village called Páty. And in 1980, we were so lucky to have Gurujī with us. I remember there was a huge storm. Everyone tried to hold the tent; otherwise, the storm would have blown it away. But still, we had a very good time. Svāmījī had all the yoga programs every day. He ran around the camp with us. And we felt very good. We had a very good time. And after that, whenever Svāmījī had a program, we always went and always tried to lead more and more potential disciples to him. I’m really grateful to God that I was so lucky to get to know Svāmījī. And I am only the first disciple because Krishnānanda is polite. So, thank you very much. Do you want to say one or two bhajans? No, I don’t want to. Aise Tumma Dekhiya Bina Sajani. Aise Tumma Dekhiya Bina Sajani, Abhyākālejo Rāsannādījo. Dīvasānābhūkha ninda nā irena mukhasu katha hatha nābe nā, mukhasu katha hatha nābe nā, kājāi tārasā nā.
