We are never old for yoga

This weekend provided a spiritual vaccination against the subtle influences of Kali Yuga. The age's decay enters through small compromises, like a mouse, creating spiritual inflation. We must learn to firmly say no to ourselves, for the gentle approach of this era ends with us caught unaware. A yogi, like aged ghee, improves with time; one is never too old for sādhana. This injection strengthens our immunity, but ongoing practice is essential. We must carry this light home and arrive at the coming opening in a state of spiritual readiness, not merely physical. Our perspective on food, practice, and community must grasp the deeper principle of non-harm.

"To know how to say 'No' to ourselves."

"We are never too old for our sādhana."

Praṇām Gurudev, Hari Om. First, we have an announcement. Blanka Žiačka from České Budějovice passed away on the 12th of this month. During her life, she donated a large statue of Śiva, which now stands next to the altar in Střílky. We ask for prayers for her soul. Now, this weekend seminar is slowly finishing. For all of us, I must say, it was a great time. We had the opportunity to spend time with Viśva Govindjī and to hear, perhaps not so much, but truly rich nourishment from Viśvagurujī. They were very rare words. One aspect was our vegetarian food. I will not say the food itself is most important, but it is important to understand its meaning. We had excellent food, and while it is not the most important thing in itself, it is very important for us to understand what it is all about. Nowadays, many people are vegetarian, vegan, and so on. Ahiṃsā paramo dharmaḥ. What does it mean that we truly understand ahiṃsā? We do not need to explain to anybody why. It is healthy, it is good. Just as today, I do not need to explain that I do not eat humans. For me, it is normal not to eat humans, and you do not need to explain whether it is healthy or not. The same applies to anything that is alive. What we hear is that the influence of Kali Yuga is now increasing. Everything enters through small doors. Because of that, Gaṇeśajī controls the mouse. What does entropy mean? Inflation. Inflation in spirituality is just like that mouse—small, small. "I will sit with these people. I will just smell this and come." In the end, we find ourselves who knows where. The mouse symbolizes various small deviations, such as entropy and inflation. Inflation in the spiritual world means you make a small deviation; for example, you say, "No, I don’t eat this, but at least I smell it." What we learned from Viśvagurujī is very important: to know how to say "No" to ourselves. I think that is perhaps something truly great we received from this seminar—to understand that we are in this Kali Yuga, and it approaches so gently that we do not realize we are caught by that tiger. A very important message of this seminar with Viśvagurujī is that we realize we are in Kali Yuga. It affects us in a way we do not even have to realize, and immediately that tiger catches us. We also learned this weekend that a yogī is like ghee. You know that with aging, it becomes better and better. Old ghee, a hundred years old—what does it mean that the best karma yogī started at 100 years? That is a truly great lesson, because very easily people say, "Oh, I am old." And that is this little mouse: "I’m old." We are never too old for yoga. We are never too old for our sādhanā. I realized: why is an old yogī better than a young yogī? Because they have been practicing yoga for 50 years, and that is the great thing. Practicing, practicing, practicing changes us. We have now received one injection. This injection is against Kali Yuga. We need to keep practicing to have an even better immune system, to survive this time. Truly, we need to become good yogīs, not only for ourselves. It is also very important that when we return home, we bring this light of Viśvagurujī with us into our family, our ashram, our city, and continue to work. Thank you for this vaccination. It is a good vaccination, but we also need to practice. Very soon, next week, all of us will prepare for the opening of Om Āśram. What is also important for opening Om Āśram, I think, is that we come in good condition. Not physical condition, but in spiritual condition. If we come to the opening in good physical condition but not in spiritual condition, it will perhaps be just... nice functioning. But if we come with our spiritual practice, we will be, I hope, able to feel what is really the opening of our heart. Just as with vegetarian food—it is healthy, and I will be healthy—or we understand that it is the Ahiṃsā Paramadharma, the highest religion, the highest principle. Or Om Āśram will be a nice big building in the shape of Om. Our perspective, how we approach anything—our āsanas, our prāṇāyāma, our food, and our āśram—I hope that all of us will understand this deeper meaning of all these things. I believe, and I hope, that we will all understand the deeper knowledge of the things we receive here.
