We are in the boat of Gurudev

The bond between guru and disciple is the boat to cross the ocean of illusion. This bond is strong, deep, and pure, sustained by the disciple's service and trust. The guru's grace guides and protects. One must surrender and hold on, even when the waves are strong. The journey requires the disciple's own decisive blessing, the most important grace of all. The guru's grace finds the disciple, but the disciple must choose to stay in the boat. The goal is to burn away impurities like lust and anger through dedication. There is no separation from the guru's essence.

"Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalam. Everything that he has, that we all have, is all the kṛpā and the blessings of Gurudev."

"The fourth kṛpā is the most important one: kuṭkī kṛpā. This means the blessings, the kṛpā, of ourselves."

Om Śalāk Purjī Mahādeva Kī Jai, Devādi Devadevaśvara Mahādeva Kī Jai, Śadīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai, Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ Paramahaṃsvāmī Śrī Mādhava Nandapurjī Sadgurudeva Bhagavān Kī Jai, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Paramahaṃsvāmī Śrī Maheśvara Nandapurjī Gurudeva Kī Jai. Sadāśiva-samāraṁ bhaṁ, Śaṅkarācārya-madhyamāṁ, asmat-ācārya-paryantāṁ vande guru-paramparāṁ. Gurur-brahmā, gurur-viṣṇu, gurur-devo maheśvaraḥ, gurur-sākṣāt-para-brahmā, tasmai śrī-gurave namaḥ. Mannātha śrī-jagannātha, mad-guru śrī-jagad-guru. Salutations to the Cosmic Self. Salutations to Śrī Alakpurījī Siddhāpīṭ Paramparā. My dhanyavāda praṇāma. I bow to Guru Dev, His Holiness Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Maheśvarānand Purījī. Om Namo Nārāyaṇī. Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Svāmī Purījī Mahārāj. Om Namah Nārāyaṇa to all the sannyāsīs present here. Hari Om and good evening to all of you who are present here and those watching through the webcast. The bond between guru and disciple is a very strong, very deep, and very pure bond. The Seva Bhāva, the attitude of serving the Guru or anyone, is the highest thing you can do. As we were singing earlier, "Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalam." I hear one here, one there. Have you all had dinner or not? I don’t see the Jāṭarāgni (digestive fire) working inside. "Guru Kripa, he gave a lamb?" Very good. So when Gurudev’s Kripa, when Gurudev’s blessings are there, then we disciples are in ultimate bliss, and that can work wonders. As you all know, our dear Phulpurījī Mahārāj—for how many years he did Sevā of Dādā Gurujī, of Holī Gurujī. Everything that he has, that we all have, is all the kṛpā and the blessings of Gurudev. But I will share one funny incident or story from my childhood. Once upon a time, Swamiji, you know how he likes to tighten our screws. So he wanted to tighten my screws a bit, and he sent me to stay with him. We were living together. Waking up early morning, he used to find me most of the time in his kitchen, stealing chocolates at night. The whole day he would say, "Why are you not eating? Not hungry?" So even nowadays, when I’m seriously not hungry and not eating chocolates, he still says, "Did you eat some chocolates in the night?" So the love between brothers and the bond will always stay, and those memories are always there. Even now, I have grown up and am not in that zone anymore, but he still wants me to eat good food. So, on behalf of all of us and on behalf of me, I would like to wish you officially a very happy birthday. May God’s blessings always be on you, and may we be together always and move forward. The Guru is the boat in which we sit to cross this spider web, this ocean of Māyā. All of us sitting here are already in that boat because we used our viveka (discrimination) and chose satsaṅg over kusaṅg. Now we are already in the boat. We just need to trust the boat, or the person who is rowing the boat, and not jump off. Because the Māyāvī waves are very strong sometimes, and the boat wobbles a lot. But when we have that trust, that dedication, that devotion towards Gurudev, then we know that it doesn’t matter how high the tides and waves are, we are finally going to reach the end. When we trust our parents, we know: when a child is walking on a thin wooden plank crossing a river, and if the parent is walking beside the child holding his hand, then the child has that satisfaction within, knowing nothing will happen; the father or mother will protect me. In the same way, we also move along that thin plank, feeling we might slip and fall down into that heavy, current-filled river at any time. But we should just remember that Gurudev is there to hold our hand, and he won’t let us fall. But we need to give that trust. Holī Gurujī spoke of four kṛpās. How many of you remember now? I said it last week, so let’s see. How many remember? Okay, I will repeat it again. Four Kṛpās. First—and don’t worry, I will be asking again next week; maybe write it down—the first kṛpā is deva kṛpā, the blessings of the devas, the gods and goddesses. You might ask why. Because if, out of the 8.4 million life forms, we are born in this human life, that itself is the kṛpā of the gods and goddesses. Gurudev always used to tell me when I was young that this human life is very precious; do not waste it. There are many things we could be doing on a Saturday or Sunday, going out, but we are all sitting here. That is a good use of our human life. The second kṛpā is śāstra kṛpā, the blessings of the scriptures. If we are reading, learning anything—in college, university, anywhere—the Bhagavad Gītā, Rāmāyaṇa, Līlā Amṛta, any of those scriptures, the knowledge we gain from them and which goes within us is the kṛpā of that specific śāstra. The third kṛpā, which we all have and is most important, is guru kṛpā. But Holī Gurujī used to say the fourth kṛpā is the most important one: kuṭkī kṛpā. This means the blessings, the kṛpā, of ourselves. Because the Guru is there to take us, guide us, show us the right path, and bring us from darkness to light, but he will not hold our hands and drag us. That is our decision. That’s why Holī Gurujī said our own blessings, our own kṛpā, is most important, because we are the ones who are going to decide. And it’s not that we found Gurudev, but Gurudev found all of us. He grabbed us from every single corner of the world and brought us here to Střílky. So imagine how many good karmas and good deeds we did in our past life: first, to be here; second, to be a part of this beautiful family; and third, to have a guru like Gurudev. That’s why a living guru like Gurudev, who guides us, who is always there—omnipresent, everlasting—is always with us everywhere. Physically, he might be in India, but his kṛpā, his blessing, his essence, his energy, is always here with us everywhere. He always said that you all are in my heart. So if we all are in his heart, that means he is in all of our hearts; he is always with us. So there is no separation from that Guru Tattva. We are one. There is no separation, no distance. The love we hold towards Him has no boundary; it is unlimited. But for that, we need to surrender. We need to say, "Gurudev, I am yours, you are mine." That is it. And once we step our foot in that boat, then the boat will go. Nothing is permanent, but what is permanent is the bond between us and Gurudev, which is constant and everlasting. Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, se kona bade? Usne vī gurū kīnā. This means Bhagavān Śrī Rāma, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who were incarnations of Lord Viṣṇu, even they had a guru. Then we human beings, we need a guru. It is said: if the Guru and God are both standing in front of you, to which one will you make praṇām? The Guru, because the Guru is the one who is showing us the way to God. So our love for Gurudev, our dedication, our devotion to Him should just increase, not decrease. But these five things should decrease and, hopefully, disappear. Any guesses which are the five things? Kāma, krodha, mada, lobha, ahaṅkāra. These five qualities, these not-good qualities, should go. Envy, jealousy, anger, lust—all these things should go down because they are what pull us down in our spiritual journey. When we are dedicated towards Gurū Dev, then these things are slowly, hopefully, getting burned. Burned by what? Burned by our sādhanā, burned by our mālā, burned by our dedication towards Gurudev. Even Indra Bhagavān is agreeing with me. Indra just went, "Rrrr." So he’s agreeing, so I won’t take too much time. Our dear Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Phulpurījī Mahārāj will also speak a little bit. And Varsha Jī will, I think, speak tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. She’s with us for three days, so we have a lot of time. She will be speaking about how to remain rooted and how to stay connected. Śāntiḥ śāntiḥ... Sadgurudev Bhagavān kī jai, Viṣṇudeśvara sākṣāt parabrahma tasmai śrī gurve namaḥ. Śrī Alak Puruṣa Mahādevakī, Śrī Dev Puruṣa Mahādevakī, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Śrī Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ Madhvānandī Bhagavānakī, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍalī Svārāparampitā Parameśvara Parampūjī, Śrī Satguru Devakī, Ṣaṭiśnātana Dharmakī. Salutation to Alak Puruṣa Siddha Pīṭa Paramparā. Pozdraveni Śrī Alak Puruṣa Siddha Pīṭa Paramparā. My adoration to Viśvagurujī’s holy lotus feet. Respected dear brother, Swami Avatāra Purī Mahārāj. Our ashram pillar, Pārvatī Jī, the ashram supporter, great, great... wise person and helper, always Vasanthji and his wife. Swami Gajānand Purījī Mahārāj, all divine sannyāsīs and yogīs here present in this divine place. All Yoga in Daily Life followers, disciples, teachers, students, and all the devotees of Alakpuri Siddhapit Paramparā. Následujete Śrī Alakpurījīho Siddhapīṭha Paramparā. Presence here, the Living Light Mahāprabhujī Deep Satsaṅg Foundation Ashram. We are all the very luckiest ones, the blessed ones, that we have the divine guidance of the Ālakurījī Siddhāpīṭ Paramparā. I’d like to thank my dear brother, Swami Avatāra Purījī, our Vishvagurujī’s successor. He reminded me of my childhood and his childhood too. Because of the blessing of Vishwagurujī, we have the same ashram where we were living and grew up. Vishwagurujī gave me some duty to look after things when there was nobody there. They all went to Kumbh Melā, sorry. It was a story that started from the Kumbh Melā. I was told that Mahāprabhujī sometimes gave me the task of taking care of Avatar Purījī. Because... yes, please. All people were at Kumbh Mela, our ashram... no, only we students were there, I mean, because we were studying and we had exams at that time. So I tried my best to take care of Swami Avatara Purījī, but he was taking care of me. So it was a beautiful time, and it was a great, great, great blessing of the Guru Paramparā. I always worry that if Avatar Purījī does not eat or if he is not healthy, then Swamijī will not be happy. I am very clear, transparent, crystal clear—what is called transparent, crystal clear—I want to tell you. Viśwa Gurujī called me from Europe and told me that I should cook halva and kheer for morning breakfast, and I don’t know what he knows. So, my dear, this is life. This is reminding us time to time, and I’m thankful today. This is a great one-color life celebration of my 36th birthday. I would like to thank all of this ashram and all the organizers; they also welcomed me and gave me their things on my birthday. I would like to thank all the students who prepared very good and beautiful presents for my birthday, the cake—my life, I think, for the first time. I would also like to thank the young people who gave me this cake. It is my first birthday cake in my life because in India we always have kheer, purī, halvā, etc. In India we only have halvā, khīr, and purī. But this cake is a very, very, very memorable and unique celebration of my birthday here in this āśram today. Do you remember that in 2018, myself and Avatāra Purījī were traveling in Europe? That time we were celebrated here, but there was no seminar. Now today, many, many devotees of Viśwa Gurujī told me, "Happy birthday." I would like to thank all of you very much, and many blessings from Viśwa Gurujī to you. Everything is a blessing of Viśwa Gurujī, otherwise as well. Dear Swāmī Jīvtār Gurujī told... that you know where we were, nobody knows. It is the blessing of Vishwagurujī because, as Avatar Purījī said, where else would we be, nobody knows. Swami Jī je magnet a my jsme magnet. And that is thanks to Viśvagurujī’s blessings. So, thanks to all of you once again. This is a great day. In the morning, we were celebrating Guru Pūrṇimā. You know, all of you know that we are almost two weeks traveling. On the 8th, I think, Swami Uttar Purī came to India. Swami Avatar Purī appeared in India. We were in the ashram in Jadam, and thousands of people came to celebrate Guru Pūrṇimā. The organizers in Jadam had a double duty. They were day and night always aware, looking, running, and organizing for people to come there. We have to give hospitality, facility, humbleness, softness, and welcome to them because they are coming to their spiritual God house, the āśram. After two days, on the second day, Avatāra Purī told me that we need to leave. Avatar Purī, I didn’t sleep all night, all day. No problem. We will sleep in the airplane. So we went to Jodhpur in the morning by car, and at 3 o’clock, by aeroplane. We arrived at 4 o’clock in Delhi. We were there for 3-4 hours. At 9 o’clock, by aeroplane, and we went to Abu Dhabi. The time zone is different; I don’t know what time it was there. Two hours less than here in the Czech Republic. And from there we had to fly to Vienna. So we came to Vienna at 6:30, 7 o’clock, or 7:30, ashram. From there, one half an hour rest, and 10 o’clock in the car to appear here, the Living Light Mahāprabhujī Deep Satsaṅg Foundation ashram. So we are here with you, all of you. So the voice is not clear, sleeping, moving, but we are happy that we see all our family here. So our Gurudev is blessing, and he is guiding us, so we are moving in the boat. One good singer in India sang bhajans. "Misharan Pada Teri Charanome, Jaga Dena Karuna Nidhi Naam Tera Karuna Diklao Tum, Karuna Nidhi Naam Tera Karuna Diklao Tum, Soe hue bhagyon ko, he naat jagao tum. Meri nāb bhavare dole, isse pare lagā denā Gurudeva dayā karke, hamko apna lenā Gurudeva dayā karke, hamko apna lenā." So it means: Gurudeva dayā karke, O Gurudeva. Daya means mercy. Karke, please be merciful with us. Apna lena means accept our bhakti, our adoration, our sādhanā, and our inner feelings. Soye huye bhāgyoko jaga dānā, O Gurudev, please wake up our destiny. My boat is in the ocean and moving with the ocean waves, up and down, up and down, moving. As Avatār Purījī mentioned, Merenāth is a boat. A boat is sailing on the ocean, sweeping its waves up and down. Guru Dev, please let my boat cross this ocean. So this is the blessing of our paramparā, that we are here in this beautiful place. Here, myself, I feel that each and every plant and each and every tree, there is the Viśvagurujī’s energy. You know, all of you, how many years Swāmījī was here giving lectures, and he woke up all of us on the spiritual path. It is all the blessing of Vishwagurujī. I am thankful to Vishwagurujī, and I like to pray for his good health, and all the will, the human life, the prosperity, harmony, and peace. Now, Vishwagurujī sends nectar blessings here to us. So please, fold your hands. Fold hands and bow three times, humbly sending, praying for Viśvagurujī’s good health. Our prayer will go to the cosmic light, and it will give blessings to Viśva Gurujī for his good health. Our prayer will go to the cosmic light, and we will strengthen his health and protection. Deep inhale. Three times OM, and three times we sing OM. Śrī Alak Puruṣa Mahādevakī, Śrī Dev Puruṣa Mahādevakī, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ Mādhavānandī Bhagavānakī, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarī Yogirāj Parampitā Parameśvara. Thank you, Gurujī, for this opportunity to be included. And as Gurujī said, we are blessed, and we are basically—we don’t decide, it gets decided. This is absolutely true by my experience, so I’m just... I would like to sing a bhajan which is asking Guru to give us enough strength so that we always follow the path of goodness and whatever Guru taught us. Give us so much strength and wisdom to follow the path, and may we not make any mistake, even by mistake. We should always be conscious of what we are able to contribute to any system we are a part of, and how that system becomes beautiful because of our existence. Yes, so with your permission, Gurujī. This is in Hindi, but since you know the meanings now: "Shakti hame dena daata, man ka vishwa se kamzo. Hum se bhuli kar bhi, koi bhuli ho. man ka vishwa se kamzo. Kisi se bhavana man. Bhuli kar bhi koi bhuli ho, Man ka vishwa se kamzal, kajal karde pavan ho. Bhuli kar bhi koi bhuli ho, itni śakti hame dena dātā. Man kā viśvās kamzor, Jai Gurudev."
