Diwali Celebration

The Guru brings light to darkness, incarnating to liberate devotees and unite them in divine light. This Diwali commemorates Lord Rama's return, symbolizing the inner lamp Guru ignites within each heart through mantra and devotion. That flame must burn eternally, like the continuous lamp in the ashram. The Guru built this sacred space not for himself but for future generations; our duty is to preserve it. His grace alone is the disciple's auspiciousness.

"The Guru is the one who brings light to darkness."

"Once lit, that dīpa should not go out."

Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India

My donor praṇāms to our beloved Gurudeva, His Holiness Vishwa Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Maheśwar Ānand Purujya. Om Namah Namayant to Swami Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Swami Pulpurījī Mahārāj, and Hari Om. Good evening, and a beautiful Deepāvalī to all of you who are present here and to those watching through the webcast. Today, on this beautiful occasion of Deepāvalī, as we celebrate in the holy presence of Viśvagurujī here at Omāśram Jhadam, we wish you all a very prosperous, blessed, divine, and luminous new year. The Guru is the one who brings light to darkness. Just as this entire garden was once an empty space, he brought light into that darkness. He brought divinity and has spread this prakāśa (divine light) throughout the whole world, the whole universe. It is very rare that such great Mahāpuruṣas incarnate in this world. Life is much happier up there, yet he decided to come down to this Mithyāloka (world of illusion). Why? To liberate, to bring all lost bhaktas back, unite them, and make them one. He is the one who brought this divine jyoti (flame) throughout the whole world. We are very blessed and fortunate to be with him, and he is with us. He has always said we are with him and he is with us—with us in our hearts, and we in his heart. On this beautiful occasion, Gurudev blesses us all that this Diwali, and this whole year—as in India Deepāvalī is also considered a new year—we can all take a saṅkalpa (sacred resolve) in his presence. Any individual saṅkalpa we wish to follow, we should keep it throughout the rest of our lives. Compared to the past year, this Diwali was very beautiful. Gurudev spent a long time with us in Nepal. We had a beautiful celebration there yesterday, and Jyot and Viśwa Gurujī were with us the whole afternoon, sitting and resting outside. Even today, he was graceful enough to come and bless us all. This day commemorates when Bhagavān Śrī Rām returned to Ayodhyā. The entire city lit dīpas (lamps) to welcome him. In the same way, we are lighting dīpas. Gurudev lit that dīpa within each of our hearts. That dīpa has been lit with our mantra, our seva, our devotion. That devotion is the oil or ghee we put in the lamp. Once lit, that dīpa should not go out. Just as in Mahāprabhujī’s ashram in Veṇā, for the past 52 years, a dīpa has been continuously lit, so too the dīpa lit in our hearts since our mantra initiation, since we became disciples, must be kept burning forever. As the villagers welcomed Śrī Rām, we welcome Gurudev with these lights. Gurudev then lit the beautiful Diwali tree, a tradition here in Jhadan. You can see how shining his face is; he is glowing, so happy to see all of us. And more than him, we are happy to have his darśan and his presence. Wherever Gurudev’s lotus feet go, that bhūmi (soil) becomes holy. Nepal was holy, Gurujī’s tapo bhūmi (land of austerity) is Jāraṇ. This is Gurudev’s tapo bhūmi. Gurudev worked endlessly hard to build every single structure you see. The Om Ashram was his life’s biggest project. He completed it and is now peaceful and happy, enjoying the beautiful ashram he built. He did not build it for himself; it was not svadharma (for oneself) but paradharma (for others). It is dedicated to all future generations. It is not a mansion for him; he still lives in the White House. We requested many times, "Gurudev, it’s ready, come." He is still happy there, but he built it for the coming generations. We will remember Gurū Dev for this beautiful work, into which he dedicated every single drop of energy, consecrating this beautiful space. Now, it is our job to maintain it and preserve the beauty Gurudev has made for us. We thank you for everything, Guru Dev. We thank you for giving us the opportunity to become your disciples and for blessing us with your heart. We offer our dhan, man, and tan—our wealth, mind, body, soul, and everything—to Gurudev. On this Dīpāvalī, we wish him a long life; may our lifespan be added to his. May he stay happy and healthy and keep blessing us with his mercy, his kṛpā. For Guru Kṛpā Hi Kevalam, Śiṣya Ke Ānanda Maṅgalam (The grace of the Guru alone is the auspiciousness of the disciple). May Gurudev’s kṛpā remain on all of us always. That is our wish. Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ... Sat Gurudev Bhagavān Kī Jai. Viśva Guru Maṇḍaleśvara Paramahaṁsavāmī Maheśvara Ānandapurījī Gurudeva Kī Jai. Haraṇaṁha Pārvatī Pate Harahara Mahādeva Śambho Brahma Viṣṇu Gurudevara. Guruḥ Śākṣāt Parabrahma Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Śrī Alagpurīṣa Mātā Devī kī, Dev Purīṣa Mātā Devī kī, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān kī, Hindu Dharma Samrāḍ Madhvānandī Bhagavān kī, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarī Yogī Rāj Parampīṭha Parmeśvara. Parampūjī Śrī Sadgurudeva kī Satya Sanātan Dharma kī Jai. Salutation to Alagpurījī Siddhi Pīṭha Paramparā. My adoration to Viśvagurujī’s holy lotus feet, respected dear Svāmī Avatarpurījī, all the divine sanyāsīs and yogīs present here, all spiritual seekers and aspirants of yoga and daily life, followers, the fellowship, organizers, and all devotees here in Jādān Āśram, Om Śrī Viśvadīp Gurukul, Swāmī Maheśvarānandjī Āśram, Education and Research Center, Jādān Pālī Rājasthān, Om Āśram, India or Bhārat. Many blessings to all of you from Alakpurī Siddhi Pīṭ Paramparā and from Viśvagurujī, whether you are present here in this divine place or listening through the webcast, celebrating Deepāvalī with Viśwa Gurujī. The Deepavali festival we celebrate is a five-day continuous festival. The first day is Dhanteras, worshipping Lord Dhanvantari, the god of wealth, and the goddess Lakṣmī Māta. The second day is Caturthī. After fourteen days, the Pūrṇimā is also a day of worshipping Lord Viṣṇu, for once he killed a devil. That amāvasyā (new moon) is dedicated to Bhagavān Rām. Rām returned to Ayodhyā after 14 years. That day, Ayodhya's residents welcomed Rāma by lighting lamps in every street and house and preparing delicious food like halwa, puri, kheer, yogurt, and various sweets. At that time, there was no chocolate factory; only homemade food existed. They were overjoyed to welcome Rāma. When Rāma was born in Tretā Yuga—counted as 8,96,121 years ago—such Gods appear from time to time on this planet. Our Holy Gurujī and Viśvagurujī always mention two types of incarnation: Nityāvatāra and Nimitta. From time to time, they come to save bhaktas, protect devotees, protect dharma, protect creatures, and protect this planet. They give lessons to humanity, guiding us toward the divine path, the spiritual path for harmony, peace, and a blessed life. The Nitya Avatāra is the Guru. In our paramparā, it is called Nitya Avatāra: Ḍālak Purījī Bhagavān, Devpurījī Bhagavān, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, holy Gurujī, as well as Viśva Gurujī. This is the Guru Paramparā, leading devotees toward the divine path. For us, this is a divine day. He gave blessings, long, long glory to holy Gurujī, and holy Gurujī gave that divine power and energy to our Viśwagurujī. So it is Nityāvatāra day. The main reason we celebrate festivals is for human spiritual development and education. There are many educations on how to survive, earn money, and live in this world. How to live without money? People cannot survive in this yuga, so that education is also needed. But one education is spiritual education, leading to harmony, peace, and family life, removing the darkness of ignorance between families, religions, and cultures. Culture is the beauty of this planet, and religions are also its beauty. It does not matter which god we believe in; all gods lead us toward the spiritual path, harmony, and peace. That is the main reason we celebrate. We remember God Rāma, what he did, and his purpose for coming to this planet. For Rāma, all people and all families were equal. He came to protect dharma and gave divine life to devotees. Second is light. Daylight is life, and light is God. Light is divine consciousness, leading us from darkness to light. The Vedic Upaniṣada Mantra that Viśvagurūjī always mentions: "Lord, lead us from darkness to light, from mortality to immortality, from unreality to reality." That is for light. What is light? How much light do we need? Light is God Himself. We are lighting many lamps here on each tree. This is physical, material light. But I feel that in Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī’s paramparā, the ṛṣis have lit enlightenment in many bhaktas around the world. I feel that Mahāprabhujī’s paramparā, the ṛṣis, our Viśvagurujī, has been traveling the world lighting divine light. You are all like divine light. Swāmījī is always lighting every street, town, city, and house. And you, all divine lights, have come to this divine place. This ashram is dedicated to the devotees. Devotees are divine life; they design spiritual life. This is a divine ashram for all bhaktas—thousands, millions, trillions, billions of devotees around the world. Swāmījī has been traveling for more than 55 years. You could not count all his airplane tickets in one lifetime. Our life is too short to write the full glory of Vishwagurujī. Thanks to Vishwagurujī for giving us the opportunity to live with him, serve him, and contribute physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually to his divine path, glory, and project. The Om Ashram is a spiritual sport for people, for devotees. You will know we are one. A sister here gives daily messages: "Today 700 people came, today 900 people came, today 3000 people came." Every day, bhaktas visit this divine place that Vishwagurujī established—for bhaktas, by bhaktas—to enjoy inner joy and to worship. This is a worshipping place for devotees, regardless of country, language, color, culture, or gender. Spirituality transcends all worldly dogma and attachment. It is a spiritual home for all who come here. I thank Viśvagurujī for giving us the opportunity to be with him and celebrate this divine day, Deepāvalī. Tomorrow is Mahāprabhujī’s incarnation day. Prakāś Puñj Amṛt Sāgar Śrī Dīpharī Mahājan Sare Viśva Mein Gunj Rai Hai Prabhu Kī Amarā Kahānī. Please go ahead. God bless you. Shabbat Shalom. God bless you. Thank you for watching!
