Morning lecture from Strilky seminar

Sit in a straight meditation posture and relax the entire body. Be aware of being in nature, within the divine atmosphere of the āśram. Withdraw from the external world and bring awareness to the breath. This breath is the thread of life. Inhale cosmic energy and exhale toxins. Practice Nāḍī Śodhana Prāṇāyāma by breathing through one nostril at a time to purify the nerves and tranquilize thoughts. Concentrate on the breath at the center of the eyebrows, where a sparkling light may be seen. Conclude by feeling the environment, chanting OM, and performing a forward bend to benefit the senses and brain.

"Our breath is the thread of our life."

"This prāṇāyāma is known as Nāḍī Śodhana Prāṇāyāma, or the purification of the nerves."

Glasshouse, where I am sitting this morning. Thank you. Please sit in a meditation posture, straight and upright. Close your eyes. Adjust yourself comfortably. Relax your shoulders and elbows. Place your hands on your thighs, halfway between your knee and hip. Keep your body straight and your stomach muscles relaxed. Keep your jaw relaxed; do not bite your teeth together. Relax your tongue. Do not press your tongue against your gums. Keep your neck straight. Feel and relax your whole body from the toes to the top of the head, and from the top of the head to the toes. Feel that your eyelids are gently closed. Your lips and facial muscles are relaxed. Relax the whole body and be aware of your being here in this beautiful nature, among these beautiful, big trees. I think we have nearly 100- to 150-year-old trees in the park. You know, one tree is nearly 400 years old, and the energy of this tree is radiating. Many happy creatures are here—birds singing, butterflies flying, bees humming. To be one with nature is a blessing for us. A plus point is that this is the āśram, and it has a divine atmosphere and very divine spiritual energy. Each minute in this place means a lot. Each breath we breathe here is a blessing for us. For the time being, withdraw thyself from the external world and be one with this beautiful nature. Now, bring your awareness to the breath. You know that you are inhaling, and you know that you are exhaling. How blessed we are that we can inhale and exhale. This breath is our life. Our breath is the thread of our life. Our breath is the chain of our life, in which each breath in and out makes one ring in this chain. Our chain of breath should be strong; it should not break. I know that I am inhaling. During the time of inhalation, cosmic energy is flowing into my body. And at the time of exhalation, all the toxins are exhaled from the body. I feel relaxed. I feel happy. I feel my life. Being myself a part of this nature, a citizen of this planet, a member of my human society, a protector of all creatures, and blessed by Gurudev for my spiritual achievement—with this kind of feeling. Now, place the two fingers of your right hand—the index and middle finger—at the center of your brows. With your right thumb, close your right nostril from the side, gently and slightly, from the outside. Inhale and exhale only through the left nostril. Abdominal breath means breathing slowly, deep in. Expand your abdomen, stomach, and then your chest. Exhale from the chest, and the rest of the breath exhales with the help of the abdominal muscles. I know that I am inhaling, and I know that I am exhaling. Without counting, go ahead and feel oneness with nature. Birds are happy and singing for you. Go ahead. Inhale and exhale only through the left nostril, without counting. Keep your body straight but relaxed. Go ahead. This prāṇāyāma is known as Nāḍī Śodhana Prāṇāyāma, or the purification of the nerves. It tranquilizes your thoughts. It calms down your nerves, relaxes your body, and the result is that you become free from daily stress. It develops love and devotion to Gurudeva, or to what you believe. First of all, you have to learn to love thyself. Go ahead, inhale and exhale with the left nostril. Follow your breath process. You know that you are inhaling and exhaling. Become one with the breath. Draw your attention, or your awareness, in and out with the ascending and descending breath. Now, place your hand on your knee. Keep your eyes closed and meditate, or concentrate, on the breath at the center of thy brows. The in-going and out-coming breath creates a kind of light, sparkling at the center of the eyebrows. Exactly at the center of the eyebrows, where you give the tilak or where the Ājñā Chakra is. Again, place both fingers of the right hand at the center of the eyebrows. Close the left nostril with the right ring finger. Inhale and exhale with the right nostril, without counting. Comfortably, long and deep breath. I know that I am inhaling, and I know that I am exhaling. Feel the whole respiratory system, how the breath is flowing in. After exhaling, place your hand on your knee. Concentrate at the center of the eyebrows where you give the tilak. After practicing this prāṇāyāma—generally any prāṇāyāma—you feel and you can see the light at the center of the eyebrows, a sparkling light. Feel the environment, the nature, the different creatures, the beautiful air. It’s a blessing to be here. Feel the blessings. Relax. Relax. Deep inhale and chant OM. We will chant OM all together three times. Inhale and exhale, and deep inhale. Inhale. Hold your hands, your palms. Mantra: "Nāhaṁ kartā, nāhaṁ kartā, dīpaṁ kartā, nāhaṁ kartā." Slowly rub your palms together. Place your hands on your face. Open your eyes. Place your palms on the ground and bend forward. Try to touch your forehead to the ground and relax for a while. Feel the blood circulation towards the head. It is the best for our jñānendriyas: for our eyes, our ears, our nose, our mouth, our vocal cords, for the brain. Slowly, with the help of your hands, come up. The next program will be at 4:30 here. At 5:30, the rehabilitation program—rehabilitation through yoga and daily life, especially for your neck and shoulders. Until then, I wish you a very good day and a nice lunch. Al pahar. Sūkṣma. Little. Ariyom. Śānti. Śānti. Good morning to everybody. I know that many of our bhaktas in Australia are looking, so good evening for them. In New Zealand also, and in Fiji, good midnight. We had a wonderful walk through the Strelky Forest, Strelky Wood. This is one of the plus points for us, for our health—physical as well as mental. To become one with nature, to feel nature, observe nature. Now, this morning, we will have meditation compared with prāṇāyāma. So, prāṇāyāma meditation. Prāṇāyāmová meditace. I would suggest to you that you sit in such a way that the neighbor doesn’t disturb you. If you don’t have enough space, come to this side, behind, sit under the tree. Go behind there in the park; still, there’s a lot of place. This is so that you don’t smell the neighbor’s energy. After walking, the armpits are a little bit wet, especially because you will do the prāṇāyāma. When you do prāṇāyāma, it’s better to inhale the energy of nature. Of course, people are also nature, but a little different. So, for your comfort, take enough space, sit in a meditation posture, and relax.
